whether or not Stephen Hendry can still be a ranker?
In the almost entirely ad-libbed, Robin Williams' movie "Good Morning Vietnam" he brings a Vietnamese boy into a US
Servicemen Club. Williams tells a couple of huge, bigotted marines who want the lad thrown out ... "If you kick out the gooks,
the next thing, you have to kick out the chinks, the spicks, the spooks and kikes...
all that's gonna be left in here are a couple of brain-dead rednecks". SNAP! [ pub-clearing brawl ]
A forum is a lot like a private club. Convention has it that members are there to represent a shared or common interest
and have to stick to rules of common, society decency... no personal attacks, nor vulgarity, nor viewpoints that could possibly
be slanderous or libellous, especially to the site itself.
And herein lies the well-know and widespread problem area where in a slightly paranoia-inducing setting an administrator can
go off the deep-end and make arbitrary sanctions against members because of "personal" disagreement.
There is a term for that...

Just as administrators and moderators have a responsibilty for due dilligence in maintaining agreeable standards,
so too do members for determining what is agreeable!
This is our Community, people. What do you think?

The fact that you haven't (to my knowledge), says to me that this forum isnt as bad as you are claiming. You are free to disagree with the way it is being run, all day long. Which indeed you often do.
This forum is strict, but generally fair IMO. I do miss some of the members that have been banned, but, unfortunately many of them pushed "the rules" too far and brought it on themselves. If you were to be pre-modded or banned yourself just for disagreeing or annoying the admins in any way, than yes that would be a very bad sign indeed, and all your worst fears would be realised. But this hasnt happened, so things arent that bad ?
BTW i do share your concerns about deleting threads etc, but i dont think that happens too often.Last edited by dannyd0g; 15 November 2009, 07:48 PM."You can shove your snooker up your jacksie 'cos I aint playing no more!" Alex Higgins.

However, I have had posts deleted arbitrarily.
As you do, I miss some of the more outspoken members' posts, and Ja is a good example of someone, as far as I know,
who has been unfairly censored.
TSF is a great site and I have never said otherwise, nor would I spend the time I do "contributing" [ for whatever that's worth ]
if I didn't believe that.
All I intended to do in making this post is to advocate on behalf of free speech and an openesss about who and why individuals'
comments and privileges can disappear... and just because I, myself, haven't gone missing would only be an unusually good thing
in a totalitarian regime... not in a "public" forum like this.
checkSide wondered...What has Ja been doing to get in trouble??
Perhaps there is a lesson in that?
LONG LIVE SNOOKER!

But many of your posts seem to be suggesting this place is run like a totalitarian regime. As you havent been made to disappear somehow, that is a very good thing, in that sense."You can shove your snooker up your jacksie 'cos I aint playing no more!" Alex Higgins.

well but doesn't it make the point even stronger, when it comes from someone who has not been banned?Co-winner of Spike’s 2009 UK Championship number of centuries prediction contest.
RIP Noel. RIP.
