I did a quick system restore and forwarded my pc to year 2013 I had 4756 reps and a pc was running quicker than the speed of light
i quickly restored it back to present when a woman walked in the room claiming to be my wife asking for money for new shoes

But then reps - positive or negative - should always be "signed", and authors invited to give an short explanation/comment, especially when negative. My personal line of conduct would be to be liberal with positive reps, in particular when contributions are well to the point, useful or funny. Negative rep would only be on the agenda if a post was totally inappropriate, insulting or really nasty ... and I definitely would sign it and send a private mail to the author to explain my position.
Being all different persons we have to expect and accept that some of us will disagree, and stand their ground.
- Signing is a good start.
- A brief explanation of why positive or negative.
- I don't think a negative rep being approved by Mods or Admins is a very practical thing tho but once signed, it's always good ground for an argument with the repping party as well as a Mod or an Admin should one find it unfair. Otherwise, it will be too much hassle & headache for Mods & Admins.
Monique, I quoted your post coz I liked it & my 3rd point here was the suggestion of snookersfun I guess. It makes a lot of sense but in my humble opinion is not very practical, but a great thread all in all

Right now its 21 to keep it 16 to be rid of it and 16 to change it.
Do you see that as i do, that 32 are opposed to it yet only 21 wish it to remain?"You can shove your snooker up your jacksie 'cos I aint playing no more!" Alex Higgins.

If something were as simple as that then what would there be to complain about?

Marcel Proust had an haddock! If you're calling the author of 'A la recherche du temps perdu' a looney, I shall have to ask you to step outside!
