    I agree. Just clean out the forums that aren't used that much and make it easier to browse. I've seen other forums who have gone to the dogs simply because of too many subforums causing confusion.

    Oh, now I remember something that took me ages to notice: The other threads that just sort of hang around on the bottom of the pro tournament section, after the tournament subforum list. I tend to forget about them completely. Would it be possible to make a 'general pro tournament lounge' sort of section?

      I personally have no problems with the current setup, but I see how people can find it bothersome.

      I therefore vote neutral and will simply support the majority.

        Admittedly there's not a lot of activity on the poll yet but so far it's an even split. Are the 'no' votes apathetic or do some people actively not want a section merge? I only ask because I don't think that side of the argument has been heard yet.

        I'm in favour of most of Hege's suggestions, although I think I'd do a couple of things differently. I wouldn't merge the equipment sections together, the cues section is reasonably busy and it might swamp the other two. It's worth remembering that a fair chunk of the forum's traffic comes from people reading long dead threads, for their benefit I think where clear organisational catagories exist they ought to remain. That said, the news, lounge and questions section are pretty much arbitrary so I'd be happy to see those brought together. Coaching I agree should remain seperate.

        (ferret - I'd also like to see 'Removed posts' and 'Deleted posts' merged, I've never understood the difference)

        I haven't spoken to ferret on any of this yet by the way, at the end of the day it'll be work for him to do so it'll be up to him how much is implemented.

          I'd also like to see a section where you can discuss specific players, I know other snooker forums have it that way.

            I agree. Then all of the Alex Higgins posts could have been on the one thread.

            I also think a section for pro tournaments is a very good idea.

                  A bit late here I know, but just thought I would transfer part of a post I made in another thread here as it may have suggestions that may prove useful:

                  IF the moderators/administrators are looking for ways to improve this site then I'll throw in the following:

                  * I do not believe there needs to be a Snooker Questions and Snooker Lounge Section as half of what is discussed in Snooker Lounge does begin as a question so it is complicated sometimes to think where a Snooker related question should go.

                  In my worthless opinion combining SNooker Lounge and Snooker Questions into a General 'Snooker Discussion' section may condense the topics and help some members realise there is more to discuss about snooker than the current filtered down sections suggest.

                  I do understand that there are some questions about snooker that wouldn't feel at home in the Lounge but maybe the snooker questions section could be replaced by a Rules and Etiquette Questions section.

                  * Secondly splitting the two tournament discussions sections with the news is not helpful. THe news area seems hidden and out of place and some may not even notice it is there. Again I feel it would make a better layout to bring the News section up to below the lounge and then allow the Pro and Amateur threads to be next to each other.

                  These changes would result in The Snooker Forum main section looking like the following:

                  * Introductions

                  * Prediction Competition

                  * General Snooker/Snooker Lounge

                  * Snooker News

                  * Pro Tournament Discussion

                  * Amateur Tournament Discussion

                  * Rules and Etiquettes Questions

                  * Coaching Questions

                  * Quizzes

                  * History

                  * Thirdly I believe moderators at times need to do more to make sure thread duplication does not occur. This may be hard work but when A thread about say Ronnie UK walkout appears in Lounge, News and Pro Tournament discussion it filters the discussion to three location and lessens it's value. I believe there are times when more effort needs to be put into making sure big point of conversation have one thread dedicated to it and not three or four.

                  This would get easier as time goes on as once people realise that news thread get redirected to the News section and player threads move to the Lounge then members will have more of a feel as to what goes where whereas now you sometimes feel you have to just pick a section at random to post your thread in.

                  * Finally, to aid discussion during this close season especially. maybe the Admins can do more to encourage talk. They could possibly have a stickied discussion of the week or something. Just a weekly thought or question about snooker or a particular player that can spur people into talking about snooker as well as providing a possible catalyst for offshoots in conversations. These would have to be anything groundbreaking, just simple but interesting conversation starters. There could even be a "This weeks debate/discussion" bit on the homepage like there is the poll bit now.

                    Hi Hege,

                    Interesting poll, and half of me actually likes the forum the way it is currently, but the other half thinks it could also benefit from having a few less forum/sections, any maybe replace some with others, although think I maybe a bit late in replying here as well.

                    And I agree with most of your suggestions Hege, although I think it would be great if we could keep the Snooker and Billiards Equipment section as it is, separate, so to speak, and it's just I feel there is alot of activity in the cue section itself, and as Robert mentioned earlier too, I agree that it may 'swamp' the other two. Just a thought.

                    Also think Sky's suggestion of having a player forum/section is a good one as well, and I've seen this on other sporting forums too, and as the players play such a big part in the game, in my humble opinion quite rightly deserve a forum/section dedicated to themselves. It may help the rest of the guys here as well as everybody has their own favourites, plus increase the volume of posts too.

                    And my final thought really is the suggestion to have a 'Snooker Rules and Referees' forum/section, and I think Chasmmi has mentioned something similar in an earlier post here 'Rules and Etiquette Questions', good idea. I only mention the rules and referees as snooker can be such a 'technical' game sometimes that it would be really helpful to have somewhere to find first hand knowledge on fouls, in-offs, mis-rule, free ball etc, plus all the other rulings too. And to find out more about the referees as well, as they do such a great job.

                    Lol...xx

                      I think this Forum would be alot easier search around
                      and find what you want if it was tidied up a bit.

                        The main sub-forums above are okay IMO.

                        Some of the others do need tidying up a little.
