  • Spoiler Tag

It's plainly obvious, with the Pot Black today, the Premier League going on, and doubtless on many more occasions, people will come on here, not wanting to know the results.

It's all well and good putting "Spoiler" in the title, but I think the best way to go about would be to have a spoiler tag.

That way, anyone can read any thread, without any worry of seeing what they don't want to. If you do, just click and drag over the grey box. (Of course, this is all dependant on people remembering to use the tag, so that could make it tricky, but it's only a thought.)

In my opinion its tough. It isn't going to be much of a forum if we can't discuss the snooker until everyone has seen it! By that time people may have forgotten things about the match they may have wanted to discuss at the time. If people don't want to know the score then they should just try their best to avoid it.

last month i visited a forum about the tv show ''prison break''.Because the whole idea was to chat about the show AND the third season which has just started in the u.s. the members desided that the administrators of the forum should cover with a box every spoiler that was about the new episodes.Everyone who wanted to know what happened they just clicked on the box...so, if it could worked for them it could work for us!!!

Hm, you might be right there.
I think the only real problems are the threads about recording/downloading matches and thread captions.

If you don't want to know the scores of a match currently being played or one that has been played then its not a clever idea to come to a snooker forum until you have seen the result yourself.

I think it is obvious that the current games will be the topic of the hour!!

The formula one is on at 6am tomorrow, now I am not staying up to watch it so I will watch the re-run at 11:30 but when I get upi at around 9am I will not turn my RSS reader on, nor will I watch the news and I will not go anywhere near the formula 1 forum I am a member of.

fair points, and a lot of common sense, which most folk do, but some will be eager to go places they usually visit, and chance it. thats a risk

would it not be an option that an icon can be put on the thread link, which highlights the possibility of spoilers...

Could we possibly balance it a bit? I'm one of those eejits who try to avoid results of the Prem League (and the Pot Black yesterday) until I have watched the matches in question. This is of course only possible due to some great people out there that'll cap and upload those matches.

I simply stay away from TSF and several other sites online in order to sustain my ignorance on the results in question, but there's a catch: To obtain the URLs of downloadable matches, I need to check back here from time to time! My back-up plan involves Sam147 and MSN, but it shouldn't HAVE to come to that, as it really is no work at all for the community to just take a wee bit of care.

The spoiler-free thread on the PL is a piece of genius. People have largely kept to not spoiling AND supplied the others with our fixes.

What I'd like to see, as a middle road and not putting huge restrictions on anyone:

                * Spoiler-free threads for the tournies in question. This has worked wonderfully so far, with only a minor glitch, and it wasn't even a proper spoiler.
                * If possible, name threads in such a manner that they do not themselves contain spoilers. I'm sorry, I know I got a bit cranky the other day... which was probably out of place, but it really shouldn't be a huge problem to spoiler-proof things for a couple of days after an event?
Das war ein FLUKE! Ein Glückstreffer!
