Christ sake. Its only a bleeding edit option. I have to say you have gone way over the top about it.

Seriously, there are more important things to worry about. But I did quite like the edit option to correct for spelling mistakes etc.
This is a great forum and we dont want it ruined like whats happened on other forum's. I love the snooker forum - its the main thing i had my laptop for!!I Love Snook!

Glad to see the threads are opened again.
So how is the new editing function planned to be?
I think it should be answered and discussed, there was even a discussion and a poll about the users crediting function (or how it was called, don't remember) some months ago.
Why should only a few selected members have the option to change their posts just because 'one disgruntled member' (?) as I understood decided to delete all their posts?
I just don't see the point. Would someone please explain? It can't be an aesthetic reason to make the site more 'rough and ready'? It's sort of controlled discussion then.
It's an international forum with lots of data, I really think every member should be able to edit their posts, be it for grammatical reasons or updates whatsoever.
Thanks to everyone who puts their efforts in this board.

Just to bring it back, that's how the reputation feature was discussed

I think the edit feature should be brought back.As far as misuse of the feature goes,I think appropriate action should be taken by the site administration against the concerned member. My deep screw shot

Would it be possible to limit the amount of editing?
Put in a check that say no more 20% of a post is removed. Or as was mentionned earlier a time limit of ten minutes to edit a post. Spelling mistakes are normally the edit that people make.

Nice to see a bit of fire on here.
Well sorry for being "holier than though" but i really dont like to see that sort of thing on here.
It may be entertaining for some, but I dont think it would do this forum any good for there to be too many 'discussions' that become quite that heated."You can shove your snooker up your jacksie 'cos I aint playing no more!" Alex Higgins.

Providing no unforeseen problems come up I think we'll have a solution shortly. Ferret's going to try installing an edit manager that will remember previous versions of a post (a bit like wikipedia's edit history), and then we'll turn editing back on for everyone.

Hopefully I'm speaking for quite a few of the members on here.
I think you should get in touch with Hegeland and offer him an invite back. It would be very sad to see someone with 2000-3000 posts being banned/quitting the board. He often posted eurosport and bbc schedules and I recently found out through him that ROS played Earl Strickland in the Mosconi Cup. I'm waiting for some more details of this!
It all seems very unneccessary - just put it down to two people have bad days and over-reacting.
Hege it would be good to see you back.

dan - Hege did say he wouldn't let this put him off the forum, and I really hope it won't. He is of course more than welcome.
