Sorry but I dont quite follow that. Does this mean there's not going to be any time limit on peoples editing afterall ? Is it like a safeguard so if someone (for some bizzare reason) did want to mess up the forum and delete all their posts, the forum could be restored to a time before this happened ?

That's essentially it yeah. It means that it's now possible for mods to view and undo edits on a per-post or per-user basis. Previously edits were permanent, so they did leave the forum open to disruption if anyone decided to remove their own posts, now there's no danger of that. I don't see any reason now to put a time limit on editing.

It might seem paranoid but it has happened before on here, one case in particular before Curtis arrived caused huge damage, even though the user regretted it shortly afterwards.

        I second this Dantuck!

You have to take into account he is 19 years of age and has to learn some things maybe (dont want to play here the father type btw) and maybe there was a bit of overreacting (accompanied with some beverages perhaps) involved. Furthermore I also do not agree at all I have been put on his ignore list (comment that everybody was put on his ignore list) without asking my permission. And I have seen swear words being used here and no ban being given. So, are there different rules if having a discussion with a MOD?

I think you should get in touch with Hegeland and offer him an invite back. It would be very sad to see someone with 2000-3000 posts being banned/quitting the board. He often posted eurosport and bbc schedules and I recently found out through him that ROS played Earl Strickland in the Mosconi Cup. I'm waiting for some more details of this!

It all seems very unneccessary - just put it down to two people have bad days and over-reacting.

Hege it would be good to see you back.

As I did say after putting him onto everybodys ignore list, I did take him off right away and sent him a PM explaining the details.

It is now his choice to return, as I have explained ot him in the PM.

As for seeing posts with swearing, there is a report button at the top of every post, if you see things like this or anything that breaks the rules all you have to do is click that button.

Personaly I do not read very post made on the board and I am sure the mods do not either.

OK, final word on the matter for me. I've been out of town and didn't even know that I had been banned. That came as a complete surprise to me as I don't think I broke the House Rules, except for starting a new thread. My opinion on the matter is there to read in my posts, should anyone be interested.

Obviously it hasn't an effect on the threads this user started since no one was replying to them anyway.
                Is it of any importance.
Hope you're not voting for disabling the editing function again with this, Semih_Sayginer.

im not voting for anything thanks.

i was in the shoutbox and noticed a user had edited several of their posts, which obviously would now make the threads disjointed, so thought id highlight it here where the discussion took place recently.

id imagine the admin will try the reinstatement of edited posts to their original state if its working.

I looked those threads up and found none of them was jointed anyway. As pointed out above, nobody replied anyway. Maybe that's what the user was angry about hence he edited it into nothing. Maybe not every thread was shown in the shoutbox still and there are disjointed threads now?
I'd have used the report function if any damage was done to the boards with that editing. Meanwhile you can't look them threads up in the shoutbox any longer so nobody will know which ones you're referring to.

i felt they were disjointed. if you didnt, then thats your opinion

nobody replied...eh? thats like saying threads without a reply in 2 hours had "nobody replying" hmmm

perhaps the user was angry at something or someone....i dont know them, so can only speculate

youd have used the report function. i didnt. i posted here on a thread that was discussing fairly recently what had in fact happened.

i did put in my post about checking the shoutbox "soon", and i know a mod was in there to see it, as well as others, so no youre wrong SOME FOLK DID see it

I was only saying the threads I could look up in the shoutbox weren't jointed anyway. While your point was the threads got disjointed by this editing - which was a point of discussion in this thread recently to approve the disabled editing function.
Some of the user's threads in question I'd seen before so they must have been older than a few hours.

                          ginger

i posted here as it was discussed on here recently and so this is where i chose to post it.

i know others seen the posts, one of which is a mod and will know.

im not overly bothered what you would have done.

That's the reason I replied here. Be you bothered of what I'd have done or not.
If it was a mod-only posting you didn't want any replies on you shouldn't have put it on a public discussion thread which is free to any member on the board.
