    Interesting experience.

I had the same experience as April: nothing seemed to work. No registration screen appearing, no login screen ... nothing!
I was using Internet Explorer v6
Then I launched FireFox ... and was able both to register and log-in.

I will not state here what I think of M$ crap!!!

    Tonight I'll test Safari...

Well, I don't think it's a good idea to launch a chat that does not work in IE... Not many of us want to install FF or other browsers

well! I played a bit this morning. It wasn't straightforward, but I managed to get registered and then (only after getting back in through forum) even to login (using IE 6 btw.).
Now about in there, not too sure, but managed to add friends, open a chat window, just didn't see it in right hand pane (but maybe it shouldn't be there) and write some lines to myself...

so, we are testing right now and think there are a few bugs:

        1) chat might better be opened in new window, as one would prefer to keep TSF window open as well

        2) getting in there one doesn't have any inkling as to which people are in and which rooms are there to choose from (edit: one can click on join and leave name of room empty and can just join the crowd)

        3) the actual chat window is tiny and '-' and 'square' button (upper right) don't work on it

Well ... now that I am registered it seems to be working with IE6, from forum.
          Strange ...

Well, the chatroom did work on IE after all, just took me a while to get to the registration screen. Looks quite dark, and the actual chat windows are quite small. also when I wanted to close some, they didn't close.
might be a good idea (well, I guess this is to chat programmers) if a person can see the list of the created rooms if there are, and to join any. Cos just clicking 'join' leads to unnamed group, what if there are groups with name?
Also good idea would be to have logged in users list - even they are not on the friends list. Since the registration is separate, some users have registered under different nicknames, and hard to guess what name the particular user has chosen, especially if there is no common chat group created.

                  Some other points on chat:

                  1) anyone can be invisible there - IMO this option should be available to the mods/admins only;
                  2) would be good if forum index page shows those who are actually in the chatroom (without the need to load the chatroom)

Meanwhile one could go to a pub and have a real chat
I saw that going differently in my mind

Robert - Any chance of bringing back the search function.

That was a really good feature.

is the search on the brown button different to the old search?

I hadn't noticed that before. Must be trying to create more space for adverts.

Ouch . Since I did the skin I can promise the change had nothing to do with ads. The form needed rewriting and I had a brown button to fill, so I thought I might as well do it in (to me) a neater way, it's as simple as that. To digress slightly, TSF's owners give us autonomy and pay the running costs in return for a single banner ad - it could be a lot worse.

The chat is more ferret's area than mine but we do intend to do more work on it in the coming weeks. It's an open source product so there's theoretically plenty of scope for customisation to TSF's needs. I'm afraid I can't be more specific just yet as I haven't had a proper look at it, but the suggestions are being listened to. Certainly integration with the forum proper is on the 'to do' list.

No offence intended. I'm sure it has nothing to do with advertising!

(Just scrolled up to check for larger ads!!)

How on earth do you log into the chat room? Every time I press to sign in or register nothing happens.
