E-mails

I'm getting like up to 3 or 4 e-mails a-day notifying me of replies, I know some peple may think this is helpfull ut I'd rather visit the forum to read them than getting all these e-mails telling me people have replied. Is there any way this can be stopped?

Hi again Fastie, to show you what I mean... press REPLY to this thread, have a look at the box right below it titled, "Additional Options", where it says Thread Subscription.... for any future threads you reply to, choose a Notification Type like 'Do not Subscribe' or 'No Email Notification' and you'll only see new threads via either of the 'New Posts' options.... no emails.

For any OTHER threads that you have ever replied to or started... find them and look at the options above your flag and where it says 'Thread Tools', drop the menu down and select, 'Unsubscribe to this thread'.

To find all those threads, either look through your inbox or pressing your username and choose, "find all threads...".

I aint no vBulletin expert, but you've go enough there to sort it out... just the difference between not subscribing and no email notification is a bit foggy.

PS Admin; maybe when the Rules are updated, the FAQ can reflect a 100% accurate answer to this cueist's question.

A couple of alternative methods:

If you go to User CP, then Edit Options, you'll see a dropdown box under 'default subscription mode'. If you change that to 'no email notification' or 'do not subscribe' then that will apply to all future posts unless you specify otherwise.

Another way of dealing with the threads you're already subscribed to is to go to 'List subscriptions' in your User CP. Tick the boxes on the far right, then select 'No email notification' in the dropdown box on the bottom right, and click Go. That will change all of them to no email notifcation in one fell swoop.

On the upside, not long ago this forum wasnt getting 3 or 4 posts a day. It seems to have picked up a bit lately, and the new season hasn't even (properly) started yet.

Now that's what I call an answer Robert!

Maybe if Admin are struggling for time to spend on the Forum, maybe we could pool any knowledge that's useful or open up a thread that can be a type of FAQ for questions that aren't covered in the site's list; when the site's list is updated there'd be a readymade list of extra answers to questions that are being frequently asked.

Quality & Quantity of posts too.

Ok, I went on my User CP and put it as "Do Not subsciribe" but I still got some e-mials of replys. Now I've set it too "No e-mail notification" maybe it will stop sending them now.

From what Rob's saying here, maybe you're getting emails to threads BEFORE you chose not to receive alerts. Try Rob's tip and removing subscriptions you're still subscribed to.
