PRESS RELEASE
EBOS & EBSA JOIN FORCES TO STAGE THE FIRST EVER OFFICIAL
EUROPEAN OPEN BILLIARDS CHAMPIONSHIP
The European Billiards & Snooker Association has teamed up with the English-Billiards Open Series to stage a brand new Billiards Championship.
To be known as the EBSA Open Billiards Championship it will take place between Wednesday 13th and Saturday 16th June 2007 in Carlow, Ireland, and will be the first time that such an event has been staged.
This event has been organised on the back of the hugely successful English-Billiards Open Series, currently riding high with large turnouts and record breaking performances. It will be run alongside the EBSA European Snooker Championships which will take place at the same time.
12 brand new tables are being installed in the Ivy Rooms for this event, plus 4 more in the Talbot Hotel nearby.
Current EBOS subscribers are entered automatically for this Championship. Additional entries will come via the traditional route for events of this type, which is by nomination from the National Governing Body (NGB) of each country. As this is an Open event it is not restricted to European countries, any IBSF member country may send up to 2 players.
If you are not one of the current EBOS subscribers and wish to enter, you must approach your respective NGB for nomination.
Play will be conducted as standard IBSF format, which is 8 groups round robin. Group matches will be 90 minutes duration, with knockout matches from the last 16 onwards being 2 hours.
The total prize fund for this event will be €2500 (subject to 48 entries)
For further information please contact EBOS or EBSA via their websites.
