I'm sure he did not go for the pot, it is too good to be true. But the avoiding the other balls was excelent.

Oh but he did matoski, they don't call him the magician for no reason, that was one of many, of he's famous kick shots, potting from a snooker.
As a young un he used to watch players play, when someone fluked he would learn the way the balls move and reacted from the cushions, in time he was able to play these shots with no problem, he knew all the angles and was unstoppable.
I have a phillipino friend who plays 9-ball and knows all about efren, he has a colourfull past.

If you want to see more of him just type in youtube efren kick shots, many vids should come up showing you many more of these shots he did.

yep I agree wild ... it is a fluke that he potted it but it wasn't a fluke he hit it because (obviously) that was the ball he was trying to hit ...

and given that was the only angle that seemed on, there was always a chance he could cut it in ... although he actually made the pot off the end rail to the right as we watch - much more chance he could pot it off 3 cushions rather than the 4 he got ...

but a good vid - thanks for posting RaNeN

yes like you say he hit it from behind ...he was relying on cushings not sliding, not enough side spin off the first cush and in turn not hiting the next 2 cushings perfect before hiting the 4th cushing before the ball from behind etc....

i just think with pockets on a 9 ball table like they are theres always a chance when a object ball is in the direction of a pocket but it has to go down as a fluke he could not judge it to play it.....just hit it and hope it runs safe or in a pocket.

My 1st post in the Pool section (I dont like pool is my reason)

As Nam says I believe it was intentional. A great shot.
Always play snooker with a smile on your face...You never know when you'll pot your last ball.

They are all flukes. Yes, he played to hit them, but he didn't play to pot them. No way. Considering he's been a pro 9-ball player for years and years, these type of situations where he is snookered are going to occur thousands of times during his career. 99.9% of the time he's been in a snooker and hits the object ball it won't go in. It's only the very rare occasion that he makes it that people start going wild and saying 'oh he played that he's a genius'. Fair enough, he made contact with the ball, very good, but anyone that says that he played off 4-5 rails to cut a ball in are delusional, and Reyes is too if he tries to palm it off as a played for shot.
I doubt Ronnie could pull a shot off like that in 9-ball on absolute bargain bucket bags, and he IS a genius. I've had debates about these Reyes shots before, and I've come to the same conclusion every time - 'He's good but he aint that good!'
I love the game of snooker :) (even though my mates think that its just a load of balls :D )

                      no point arguing over this,
i just know cause i mix with poeple in the 9-ball world not just snooker. though snooker is my chosen game.
9-ball players don't rate ronnie to high, they prefer drago, and jimmy.

I'd say its not a fluke. He does play shots which will make not make you believe your eyes. These are not flukes but just luck with loads of talent and skill!

I have seen his matches and thats when you will actually believe what he plays and how.

I agree, Nam, no point arguing...but how can one player have so many flukes?

                          Aye Ranen.

Its what he spent most of he's life (as a teen, even younger) mastering, those kick shots, from watching flukes people done. He bought them into he's career. He knows what he's doing, and playing, in those shots.
He's not called majician for no reason, and they are not one offs, he does them often. he knows angles better than the back of he's hands.

But i'll leave it as that and enjoy watching him forever.

He's also beaten snooker pros at snooker in the past.

Efren is not the best ever because of these half flukes shots to nothing. He is the best ever because of his superior positional play and incredibly strong mental game.
Besides, he learned his trade by playing 15 ball rotation for years which as far as position play goes is far more demanding than 9ball.

Well, that says it all doesn't it?

I'm not a Ronnie fan, but even so I appreciate that Ronnie is a talent far above Tony Drago and Jimmy White.

I guess that's what you get from people who play a game based more upon luck than skill...
