chinese looks tend to look less "mature" than western ppl. in other words, in most cases, chinese people dont look like their age.

and being chinese, i dont think she looks 16 at all.

She doesn't look 16 years of age...looks older to me.
      Great win for her anyway..

        She is 16.
I tried to post a link to this particular match here in my other thread, but most ppl said they cannot watch it, which I really cannot understand.
Anyway, in her final agaisnt karen Corr, after Corr missed a 6 ball, this 16 years old broke and ran I belive 4 or 5 tables, from being 5-1 down, then she left Karen Corr one chance when she scratched off the break, but Karen Corr missed a 6 ball during her attempt at clearing the table. The rest was history. Karen never made another ball, as Liu finished with a 9-5 win, and a nice paycheck of $30,000 USD.

            Yes, thank you.

Liu started playing in 2005, according to an interview.

She was not even invited to play in this tournament--she entered through winning a qualifier.

I thiink this is quite exceptional!

i couldn't see it with mozilla too so i gave up, but here's the full coverage, so Liu ran 5 racks in a row...

just to prove in pool, anything can happen and anyone can win, unless it's a run to 50 racks...

was it 5 or 6? I had an idea she was 3-5 down and went on to win 9-5 ... but whether 5 or 6 it shows huge maturity for a 16yr old to come back from such a deficit, she didn't worry, just kept playing her game and kept her nerve in the final couple of racks even though you could see the excitement building from the little smiles she did ...

well done to Liu and well done to Karen too ... oh and well done to the TV channel too - the adverts were really annoying but they did have the kindness to put up an info bar showing the potting order of the balls ... I don't watch much 9ball so I don't know the colours off by heart so it really helps if say, for instance, they show that she has to pot blue(2) pink(4) orange(5) green(6) brown(7) yellow stripe(9) in that order ...

this tournament's held in my hometown. shame that I did not get a chance to watch it. i think she came from 1-5 with 8 frames in a row, winning 9-5, not sure if it's right. anyway, its an awesome win. cant believe she's still 16. when i was that age, i dont even know how to hold a cue.

I think this is really something, especially considering that she has only been playing for a few year(since 2005 according to herself), and is now a world champion.

I really like her attacking game, she plays good positions and strokes the ball very well. Her stun follow shots are very well controlled. Also breaks the balls well.

Her safty game would need some work I think, but I am sure that would come with more experience.

China is really getting strong in both snooker and 9 ball. In this tournament, 3 out of 4 of the players in the semis were from China.

on that note....about 3 out of 4 players
im glad that someone from china has won such a tournament.
but its heartbreaking for me as well. i dont buy the whole "because snooker was made in uk, people from uk should win more" or the same case for american pool. i simply i dont want the game to be chinese dominated. its will be boring. if all the finals are just chinese people playing amongst themselves. its not about some "chinese domination" but rather, about more chinese players coming in.

                      its just plain boring.

i want more competition from everyone, less scrappy frames too.
i wanna see plenty of pool/snooker versions of manny pacquiao on the tour. guy from south africa carrying his flag, guy from peru, guy from figi island.

i mean. its a WORLD championship... afterall.

China has also just taken out the IBSF Womens Snooker title, beating one of my fellow players Kathy Parishas.

I agree, I would like to see all the nations firing up and not one dominating.
But really, this has NOT been the case with pool. First USA, then Phillipines and now European players doing well.
Snooker has been more dominated by the UK players with only Australia's Neil Robertson now with the most titles for a non UK player (4 and counting)

I am not sure I understand your point.

It is a world championship and many countries were represented.

There were players being invited from USA, Austria, UK, Korean, Japan, Taiwan, China...and then there were qualifiers being held before the tournament for those who were not invited to take a crack at entering it.

As a matter of fact, Liu was not invited. She joined a qualifier, beat many good players and won a spot to play in the tournament.

These players from all over the world could not make it to the semi, because they lost! That is how we ended up with three Chinese players and one UK player in the semi. This is the first time China has such a strong presence in the world championship. It is fair to say that they have dominated this tournament.

I am afraid I do not see what is so "heartbreaking" about that.

In fact, if you think it is boring to see one country dominating, shouldn't you be glad to see a new player doing so well?

I read that a girl from Hong Kong won it.
