  • Looking at buying a book to improve my game...

I play UK pool so am wondering if these books directed at the American game would be of use to me?

Very much new to playing pool (playing the odd game) and want to improve. I've definitely improved somewhat - but would like to know more (sink the shot but then what?). I'm pretty sure the fundamentals of the shots are the same but am hoping someone who has played the UK version (snooker gurus input welcome too) can confirm these books are ok. Or provide alternatives. Yes, I can Youtube clips - but I also like to chill out with a book too. Sometimes the printed page can be the superior format for instruction.

Search for a book called "on cue" its aimed at UK 8 ball players and covers every aspect.

I also think the book "the pleasure of small motions" is exceptional for sorting out your mental game.

I have the 1st book you mentioned in your opening post.

It has some excellent shots for the more advanced player.

btw... I bought it for snooker, but it's still useful!

An old book, but Succesful Snooker by Steve Davis is very good to learn the technical side of the game of snooker, but more importantly takes you through the techniques with regard to stance, cueing, sighting, bridging etc.

Will look up 'on cue' as well, sounds like a good one.
