      What a silly rule! That's not fair!
      You play a long slow deadweight red to a corner pocket. As it approaches the pocket, a kamikaze woodlouse crawls out from under the cushion and makes its way across the table, conflicting with the path of the red precisely at the point the red gets there.             And I think it's the same with the Ashes. Although they play five tests, the possibility of a draw (except when the current England bunch are playing) means that a tie is easily possible.

            The fundament is that the holder has to be beaten, for the prize to be claimed back. It is a little odd why they don't just have an odd number of games (in a sport where a tie is unlikely/impossible), but there it is.
