  • Doubling for position

Another pool shot that is much harder to do on a snooker table as always. Yes the pockets are big, yes the table is small. Enjoy.....

I was thinking about the same thing, too. Why is it called doubling?
On a side note, I dont like to play this shot with too much top, I prefer to hit the cue ball a bit lower. I find that I can put a bit more left side on the ball that way, and it helps to kill the cue ball so I would not over run the cue ball.
Do you folks play it that way, too? It is like hitting around 9 o'clock rather than 11 o'clock.

its hard to be sure without playing the shot but I think I would be more like 7 o'clock. certainly I would not play it with top spin.

My guess is its called doubling because you are contacting the same rail twice in the same shot and doing so with having to travel the width of the table.

I do not play this shot with any follow, side only.

                      again, a wonder to watch!
and Alex makes it look so easy to play the shot on the billiard table compared to the OP's pool table shot.
                      thanks Nugget

                        Glad you enjoyed it!

This just came up in my subscriptions and I thought it was a pretty good example for this thread:

Skip to 5.40 for the shot in question. He doesn't quite "double" the cushion, but still a pretty cool positional shot.
