As a woman who was sick of repairing rotted blue pockets in trousers and cleaning out a washing machine full of blocks of blue chalk n crap I say they are an absolute ****ing major important item every caring snooker playing bloke should get.
Im back using a magnetic chalk holder - with just a small piece of metal that clips on to the chalk - i prefer this to that cumbersome piece of black plastic.
I also have a megnitic chalk holder. And all my friends do. But sometimes this clicking sound so annoying...
So, I'll probably get chalk pouch soon
LOL, yes, some people do get irritated by the constant clicking. I get a bit annoyed by my opponent's click even though I sometimes use one too... but to the user, it can get kind of addictive and may feel amiss without hearing that click.
I find these pouches and holders useful... don't want to ruin my nice pair of trousers with chalk residue and never liked rummaging in my pockets for that elusive piece of chalk... I've got such deep pockets you see...
When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back. GET MAD!!
I used one of these over 20 years ago when I played snooker and after starting to play UK 8 ball pool, someone pinched my chalk (guy on next table) when I wasn't looking, as it was on the table edge, in a match so ended up without for a couple of shots and guess what... miscued and lost the frame!
I fished out my old magnetic holder which I'm surprised still works and using it again. I'm surprised I've not seen anyone else use them although plenty using the pouches... Must be a fashion thing
I used a magnetic holder for years when I didn't have a waistcoat on (we wear them in our ranking tournaments here) however as has been said some other players complain about the 'click' plus I did find every once in awhile I would bump the chalk off and then have a big search under the table for it.
I now use a pouch purchased from aurora cues and I find it much better as I never lose the chalk and of course never damage my trousers.
ive always used one feel lost without one plus there cheaper than a pair of jeans and you dont get chalk in your pocket lining ,cant use a pouch bit too flash for me
My uncle bought one for me for christmas, must have been over ten years ago, and I've used it ever since. If I end up unexpectedly playing in a pub somewhere without it, I still find my hand straying round to the back of my belt expecting to find my chalk there.
