I played in the Barristers 4s this weekend and what a fantastic day was had by all who attended. The format is simple , register by mid day , names in a pool decided by ability , one player from each category makes a team i.e. Pro , First tier player, Second tier and pub player ( me ). The team captains included , Gareth Potts , Lee Kendall , Jamie Croxton , Steve " Doc " Bridgewood and Gaz Davis ( he got me ) amongst others.Round robin 4 x singles and a team game to play , top two teams to go through. My team got knocked out 5-3 ( best of nine ) in the quarter finals ( we took Gareths teams scalp 3-2 before that though), but the winners cheque and prestige is NOT why we were there.Apart from most of the Trent Trophies " big boys " England players, Professionals, World champions, European champions etc there was normal " pub players " in the mix and families were there as well , where else can you see 3 x World champ , Gaz Potts playing serious pool one minute and the next picking up a toddler , maybe 2-3 yrs old , and happy for the kids to join in and be a part of the day.Raffles, beer, food, barracking and sledging of the highest order , everyone happy , no one falling out , little swearing , banter and above all lots of money raised for charity.I left at about 9pm , happy , very tired , but immensely proud at being a part of such a great day. Will I be back next year ? Too right !!!

Its an annual event , why not visit next year , you arent that far away , mind you I think you would be a Group A or B seeded player ( reading your posts ) that puts you in with the Pros & Sharks , lol . I shall try to find out what the tally was later in the week.I am up there again Wednesday to watch my old team in another competition , so I will ask Gareth or Lee.

How do you think I feel swimming in my pond with all the TT A players etc wandering about in it.On the other hand the " Barristers " is not about your game its " the craic " , charity and a day out . Went up Wednesday we are on course to break the £3000 barrier , brilliant result considering the weather.Perhaps see you next year .
