Strickland is without question one of the greatest cueists ever to breathe air. He does not have his demons to seek but do not doubt his pedigree as a player.

Man if those tables are supposed to be tight then just how easy are the normal tables.
Compared to snooker, pool tables are easy to pot on both for you and your opponent. That's the whole point of pool. Because of that, mistakes are punished much more easily than at snooker. 9ball is far easier to sort of 'master' if you will, but it's still a very tricky game and certainly not everyone can play it well.
Brand new cloth and very dry conditions (what you have during Mosconi Cup) always make the pockets accept even more poorly hit balls. But it also changes the game dynamics completely.
Compared to 'normal' US pool table club conditions, table with new cloth becomes much faster, very slick and slippery, safeties are now very different, escapes from snookers too. Most importantly check side has barely any effect...etc. Those who have played US pool on tightly stretched brand new Simonis cloth would know...
