an upgrade from that is Strachan 6811 tournament , I get one Club in Newark who have their tables re-covered in only Strachan 6811 tournament , but I must stress it needs Brushing ironing often to play well.

just recently a club in Derby has asked for Hainsworth Match x 2 tables and one in Hainsworth precision.

as for Strachan 6811 slacking off then that would mainly be down to the way the table was recovered , if they used spray on glue this always slips back after a recover producing slack cloth .
if they used contact adhesive and allowed around 15 to 20 mins to go off it would stick and not slip.
Too many speed fitters rushing re-covers ,
When I do a table I strip all cushions of every staple then put them to one side , then strip and clean slate off , glue cloth and slate , then I recover 4 cushions , this is enough time for the glue to go off slightly , wet contact adhesive is no good it has to be almost dry to the touch and then it grabs solid , if too wet it will slide back .
the spray on glue never sets quick and if the cloth is pulled over the slate when the glue is wet it will slip back loose.

I would say the most popular cloth is 6811 Pool followed by the 6811 Tournament , then Hainsworth Match .

Strachan 777 and 6811 club is for youth clubs and for tables where they have no pool team . Same goes for Hainsworth Smart .
I'm not sure I understand this being a DIY dummy ... are you saying that the bed cloth on a pool table is glued to the slate? if so, why can't it be done like a snooker table where (I think) the cloth is pulled really tight and then tacked into the wood surround to hold it taut ...

Yes look at this thread on my web site http://gclbilliards.com/pool-table-r...on-you-decide/

Dany A to answer your question there is no wood tack underlining on pool table slate to tack or staple to so that is why it is glued you cannot nail into slate . Sam pool tables have velcro around the edge of the cloth and the hook velcro is glued to the slate making cloth re-covers very quick and no smell from glue .
~But the most used make supreme are all glued same as Super Leagues , and have been for years .

the link fully explains the difference between a good fitted cloth and a bad one .

Forget DIY if you know a good firm always use them , we have been time served trained to do this work and we often come across DIY job's that have gone wrong and we have to put right , normally starting all over again and scrapping their cloth .

how many times have we played on a pool table and the ball is rolling perfectly to the pocket only to just stop and minutely roll back from the lip - accumulated over-spray of spray-on-glue - thanks for that Geoff.

I don't think it will make any difference whatsoever tbh.

Further to recommending a cloth type for pool tables
Strachan 6811 also now comes in a 29 oz version , the 30oz is still manufactured and used most on full size snooker tables , but they came out with a shorter 29oz nap for more speed
I think this was because Hainsworth match was being used a lot around the circuit , but Supreme pool tables always use Strachan on their tables as a standard order .

I been useing 30 oz 6811 tournament at Newark cue club for many years and Jules goodyear who owns the club has always insisted that this cloth be used at his club , but he is very good at maintaining the tables with plenty of brushing napping and ironing
I have recommended he try the 29 oz out and I am sure he will give this a try on the next re-covers
Jules has recently won the Black ball nations cup A team and singles championship at seniors level .

he recommended me to Nottingham Black ball , and they have just had 9 tables re-covered for their latest junior and special needs Nations cup which is just coming to a close at Towers Club in Mansfield
here is a link for that venue .

I have Simonis 860 on my pool table at home and most of the pool halls here in CA use it too and it is excellent.
