  • Mosconi cup 2014

Has begun! I'm not sure which bright spark decided it would be a good idea to put it on at the same time as the UK champs, but they are not on my Christmas card list.

Looks like Mark Gray's playing with a Mike Wooldridge cue, black ferrule.

I wouldn't be so sure that it is a blackspin ferrule. You can't use brass ferrules to play 9 ball pool so it has to be a composite material of some sort. Both Drago and Steve Davis used converted snooker cues when they played 9 ball and both had a fibre type ferrule. Whether its white, black or whatever the colour, doesn't mean to say its a blackspin.

I thought blackspin ferrules were composite, I'm fairly sure they aren't brass.

yep blackspin is a "fibre"/composite type very similar to many American types and the American ferrules can be various colours
could be blackspin but I doubt it
there are other American ferrules that also have similar inner core features like Blackspin but MW did mention that they are not the same as his system

I think it is, he's not playing with a pool cue, I heard the commentator say it was a snooker cue. Who else makes black snooker cue ferrules. Top match now, hoping to see Appleton dancing on the table after this.

It is good viewing the Masconi Cup and well worth watching.

I still watch in amazement at how fast that Simonis cloth is and the width of the pockets ( or should i say buckets )on those small tables! The cue ball though just keeps going and going and going like it is rolling down a concrete driveway!
If it is called " Common sense " why is it so rare???

I watched a bit last night and realised it's actually more harder to miss those pockets then pot, i mean come on there was one ball that was about 3 inches off target which ended up in the pocket

My mistake I thought the aim of a good 9 ball player was someone who is good at potting each ball in turn, obviously not.
