  • 8 Ball World championship in China

    8 ball in China.jpg

The 8 Ball World Championship is currently being played in China.

Snooker players include Mark Selby, Shaun Murphy, Neil Robertson, Ding Junhui, John Higgins, and Mark Williams.

Here is Barry Hawkins playing Neil Robertson:

My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
    I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

Thanks for the vid. Does anyone know if the table they play on for these is just a 9ft snooker table, or is it different from a snooker table in some way?

And this one. Looks like Neil and Barry missed their plane ticket home and are now stuck in China playing 8 ball? http://i.imgur.com/moA6MXV.png

Well Its near impossible not to miss a few, for the most part they breezed through the racks. Neil was playing pretty superb the whole time specially.

Was very impressed to see that Neil beat Darren Appleton 9-5 yesterday. Pretty unbelievable when you consider that Darren is one of the best 9-ball, 8-ball and straight pool players in the world and Neil, to my knowledge, has never played any form of competitive pool before. Just proves what I've always suspected: snooker players could dominate any other cue sport they want to. Pretty sure any of the top 16 could be world 9-ball champion with, perhaps, six months practice. And most of that would just be learning how to break and jump!

Thanks for posting this. Is this a big prize money
tournament or is this mainly to showcase the worlds
                            best snooker players?

I could see a lot of snooker players taking it up, particularly those who are sliding down the rankings and thinking about retirement. Could be something of a second career for a lot of them. I remember Steve Davis taking the 9-ball world by storm long after he was competitive at snooker.
Ronnie has played Mosconi Cup before and pretty much blew everyone else away without even seeming like he was trying. There's no doubt in my mind that, if he could be bothered, he could win every tournament in pool. No-one would get close to him.
