If you search youtube for "Gareth Potts Chinese 8 ball " there is a series of about 8 videos where he goes in depth about the table (which is made by JOY) and the rules, balls,cues ,tactics etc . It's a very good video series .

The pockets are the same dimensions as snooker pro tables but the balls are the same size as American nine ball which make the table TIGHT.

Lol, Shane is used to being able to hit the cushion about a foot up from the pocket and still go in!

I mostly play snooker and English pool so am used to fairly tight pockets but nothing like this. Would love to try it. Anyone know if there are any Chinese 8 ball tables in the UK? Given how popular pool is over here at the moment I could see the game catching on if given the chance.

Was very impressed to see that Neil beat Darren Appleton 9-5 yesterday. Pretty unbelievable when you consider that Darren is one of the best 9-ball, 8-ball and straight pool players in the world and Neil, to my knowledge, has never played any form of competitive pool before. Just proves what I've always suspected: snooker players could dominate any other cue sport they want to. Pretty sure any of the top 16 could be world 9-ball champion with, perhaps, six months practice. And most of that would just be learning how to break and jump!

I think these comments about Ronnie owning any cue sport are about as misplaced as the Americans saying Van Boening can dominate Chinese 8 ball or snooker if he wanted (lol!). Wrong game for the player. Neil Robertson on the other hand not only knows his way around a pool table but seems to actually really enjoy it, something Ronnie does not. I predict we will see a lot more Robertson playing Chinese 8 ball. His accuracy, temperament and shot selection is very good.

And to whoever thinks it's easy, open your eyes. They are very tight pockets with unforgiving cuts.

Other players are not as good?
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but out of all snooker players Mark Selby is most likely the best pool player. He now has the chance to hold the title at two completely different cue games at the same time.
