Just proves what I've always suspected: snooker players could dominate any other cue sport they want to. Pretty sure any of the top 16 could be world 9-ball champion with, perhaps, six months practice. And most of that would just be learning how to break and jump!
    Utter nonsense.

Just proves what I've always suspected: people seeking to validate their own prejudices do so by comparing the BEST example of one discipline with the WORST example of another.

The fact is, robbo was a great pool player long before he was a great snooker player, and would be great at any cue sport, given time. Chinese 8 ball is far closer to snooker than it is to american pool. It is only natural snooker players should have success in it - but only the very good ones.

I could see a lot of snooker players taking it up, particularly those who are sliding down the rankings and thinking about retirement. Could be something of a second career for a lot of them. I remember Steve Davis taking the 9-ball world by storm long after he was competitive at snooker.
Ronnie has played Mosconi Cup before and pretty much blew everyone else away without even seeming like he was trying. There's no doubt in my mind that, if he could be bothered, he could win every tournament in pool. No-one would get close to him.
More nonsense. Ronnie has no chance at 9 ball (although he could luck a tournament or two).

9 ball is all about safety play and the break, neither of which he is likely to master any time soon. Stop dreaming.

And steve davis did not "take the 9 ball world by storm". Stop dreaming.

sorry for my misunderstanding but i thought 9 ball was popular and good for tv cos it's all about potting and clearing the table. where's the safety?

I've actually had chance to play the Chinese pool while I've been here. I despise the English pub pool but this is ok. The pockets are not too tight but the table and balls are a good size so it seems a proper game and not a children's game! snooker is actually not as big over here as i was made to think especially in northern China. everyone plays 8 ball pool!

Well done Selby, great comeback to win 15-13 and get to the final!

EDIT: He will now face Darren Appleton, that's interesting given what happened in 2006

Appleton won his match 15-13 too.

Should be a good final. Hopefully someone puts it on YouTube soon.

My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
                    I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

Given the personal history Selby vs Appleton should be a thriller.

                            Live Streaming here http://alison-chang.com/2015-china-p...-championship/

Scroll down a bit to "livestream' and you'll see numbers 1 to 5, which are different streams. I watched Selby's semi final on this today and was pretty good!

Because potting is easy, top players are generally separated by their safety play (and breaking).
