Hi all
I haven't played pool or snooker for 25 years but I'm playing a pool evening next week so fished out my cues. I previously played pool at a decent league level but my snooker was dire (although great fun).
Cues:
2 piece 58" 19.5 ounces 9.5mm tip Ash shaft machine spliced
1 piece 57.5" 16 ounces 9mm tip Maple shaft hand spliced
The ferrules were very dark with tarnish, I've started to polish the ferrule on the two piece and it's looking much better now. I also half wondered whether to sand the lacquer/sealer off and oil it, however.......
I know I need to have a few frames first but I'm already thinking I'd like a better cue. I'd been considering a Peradon but having read a great many threads on this forum realise there's much better value for money to be had.
I'd like a 3/4 with 9 to 9.5mm tip, don't know my ideal weight but think the 2 piece suited me better.
Budget up to £200 but would pay a little more for the right cue rather than cap price for a less suitable cue.
I'm over 6'2" and have longer than average arms (always need extra length shirt sleeves), although these cues nestle in my armpit should I consider something a littler longer as I'm gripping at the bottom of the butt?
I'd definitely consider a good second hand cue and will probably treat any cue to an ADR147 laminated tip from day 1.
Finally, I "may" venture back to a snooker table at some point. Whether a new cue would be a suitable crossover or have a second shaft is another potential option. Pool will be the primary use though.
