    Re: no ball retrieval tables.

Yeah, they are probably extint now. There were some when pool first came to uk pubs but they are hardly likely to have survived. Landlord of a pub I used to go to bought one from the usa we entered the league won it and told not to enter the following year as everyone had to standardise their tables. Mind that was 30 odd years back.

To be honest, I dont actually know.
I thought it had been quoted in an earlier post, and I know thats how its interpreted at Interleague and County level, but as to which rule is actually applied Im unsure.
Ill try and find out as I know a few senior WR referees
As your part of the BUSA comp, Jon Shapland would be able to help

I can't really be authoritative but I can offer my experience. I played the BUSA (inter-university) competition a few months ago, which was professionally refereed and pretty strict about its application of world rules. In that, picking the white out of the pocket was a serious foul, two serious fouls being loss of frame.
I misread this first time round, and in WR Ive just had it confirmed is the correct ruling. Ie only a serious foul. (tho seems a few refs when I played interleague etc had it wrong)

The ref I asked elborated to say "My understanding was that putting your hand in the pocket and waiting for the white to fall onto your hand was a serious, but it's not a serious for letting it drop and then taking it out of the bottom of the pocket."

Thanks for looking into it taylor - much appreciated. I'll mention that to our local league sec the next time I see him, currently every league referee seems to do things differently.

wasn't it better when we all used to just pot the balls and be gentleman like about the rules!
