    What happened to the IPT?

Haven't heard anything about this for ages. I quite enjoyed watching some of this. Anyone know when/if it's starting up again?

the best source I've found is http://forums.azbilliards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=46

the guy who founded the IPT is a common crook. he was recently arrested again by the feds in the USA. IMHO the IPT is dead with no miracles available to revive it. there are some , also crooked, promoters still taking fees for IPT qualifying events. how can one "qualify" for a tour that no longer exists ?

Shame for the pool players, although can't say i'm surprised they didn't get many advertisers.

Did love the first line of that Trudeau guys wikipedia though:

Kevin Mark Trudeau(born February 6, 1963) is an American author, pocket billiards promoter (founder of the International Pool Tour), convicted felon, salesman, and alternative medicine advocate.

I was one who hoped the IPT was going to be big. I post quite regularly on the AZ forum, and it has a whole section on the IPT,
            http://forums.azbilliards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=46
including my breakdown on players cues (under Captain Dan). It was a very big disappointment when it came crashing down like a deck of cards, but the idea still has merit, even if the execution was not good. In fact, there is a promoter that is using the format of the IPT to do a Million Dollar 9-Ball Shootout.

These competition are great for the game, as it raises cue sports into the public arena, and hopefully allows top players a source of income.

              unfortunately, Allen Hopkins, http://www.milliondollar9ball.com/index.html ,
has become, through the IPT fiasco, joined at the hip with Kevin Trudeau. Hopkins lost a lot of his reputation when he was in business with Trudeau.

I'm a wait and see person. I'll wait and see how the Super Billiards Expo unfolds this year.

although many still sing the praises of Trudeau's "helping" pool, I think he did mostly harm. we in the USA have seen very little of men's professional pool on TV since the collapse of the IPT. I believe Trudeau's underhanded dealings probably made it almost impossible to get ESPN to show men's pool again.

occasionally, we get specials like trick shot magic, but I want to see "real" pool on TV. all trick shot magic gives me is torn up cloth on tables where some teenager tries to do a trick shot to impress his pimple faced friends.
