  • Beer!

Any beer drinkers out there? If so (and i'm sure there's a couple or three) Whats your brew?

I'm a major fan of Batemans but am currently drinking Sierra Nevada pale ale. Came accross it a couple of years back when i was in California and now you can get it in bottles from Tesco. A great brew!

It's from South Wales. It really is good stuff. You can buy it in bottles in the supermarket as well.
Whether it's made it as far out of Wales as Grimsby though, I don't know.

As my good friend Paul from Holland uses to say : Belgium, without any doubt The Kings of Beer. Chimay, Westvleteren, Lachouffe, could name a few dozen more. Alcohol ranges from 6% up to 12%.

And Duvel of course, straight down from Flander's heaven
I saw that going differently in my mind

To be honest, i'll drink any beer and love trying new ones. I'm a member of CAMRA in the UK which stands is the Campaign for real ale. Some great beer festivals here too.

This is a thread to my liking. My favourite beers are:

                        Czech
: Pilsner Urquell and Budvar. best Pils
Germany : Koening, Jever, Lindenbrau Weizen / dunkel bier (Berlin), Franziskaner Weizen, Koelsch, Schneider Weisse undsoweiterundsoweiter...
Belgium : Numero uno in brewing beer, yes Wim you are right. . La Chouffe, Westvleteren, St Sixtus, Westmalle, Maredsous, Moeder Overste, en nog zovelen meer!
UK : When in the UK visiting snooker, big fav of real ales. In Sheffield there is a great pub called The Fat Cat, having a dozen special ales on draught. Think its a Camra recognized pub. I like the beers from Newquay steam brewery if it still exist. And had dozens of others I cant remember.

In the last weekend of october one should visit the bockbeer festival in Amsterdam, 60 breweries serving their beer for 3 days in the former stock exchange building which is massive. Over the 3 days there are 20,000 visitors from all over Europe. organized by the Camra sister organization PINT,

here is a dutch link http://www.pint.nl/pint/bbf.htm

o yes, and its just around the corner of the red light....

working in the pub trade for many years i developed a wide range of taste.

                            my favourites being

                            lager - Carling
bitter - anything by the marble brewery especially Manchester Bitter also abbots ale in wetherspoons is a lovely pint.
south african and australiean white wine
                            south american red wine
                            single malt whisky
Gin and tonic (great first drink when hungover from day before)
                            scrumpy jack cider.

i think i might have a drink problem

The Whetherspoons get slagged off by a lot of folk which does not do any justice in a way. They always have 4 or 5 real ales and change them regular to new varieties. Abbots is one of their regular ales and know for sure its one of Statmans favourites (mine as well)
