  • Lemon curry? Erm...Monty Python?

    Hello.
I'm a new convert to Pythonism (I know, I'm only 30 years too late) and I've got nobody to annoy with it.
So...here's one of my favourite moments, which took place at the Hollywood Bowl, 29 years ago.

Just to be on the correct and suffocating side, mind you, there's swearing.
    Carry on.

I suffer from Montypythomania as well... this clip is from the same show...
and I love it because it is so like the inner game of snooker... reminding me of O'Sullivan vs. O'Sullivan... LOL.

Is it bad that I didn't even click on the link to know it's the amazing self-wrestling of Graham Chapman? But to be honest, not in a million years would I have thought of comparing it with O'S v O'S.
Who will play himself in the final.
          With a melon.
*wanders off humming something that sounds suspiciously like "Inflammation of the fooore[mumble].../Reminds me of your smile...At least we both were lying/When we said that we were clear"...

Come on, get on with it and post your best Monty sketches!
Here's the History of the Joke.Chapman at his spirited best and a perfect deadpan Terry Jones.

            Surely you jape!

The genius of MP is that it's humour is still insightfully funny even after after almost 40 years!
That can be said of very few comedians.

And now for something completely different...the guys were hot. Even Terry Gilliam. (Totally logical of me to bring that up,isn't it?)

              Sorry.

              But they were.

                But they were.
A year and a half ago my son and I were very lucky to get front row seats to see “Not the Messiah”,
Eric Idle's oratorio, complete with orchestra, choir and soloists. The conductor of the Toronto Symphony is Peter Oundjian, Idle's cousin... It was musically amazing and hilarious.

                Summary here:

                http://luminatocreativity.wordpress....iah-of-comedy/

Afterward Idle reached down and shook our hands and signed my son's programme.
I mention this because... he wasn't hot.
He was wrinkled. (But even his wrinkles were funny)

                  Wow! Thank you for this.
                  Wonderful.

I'm stuck in the early 70s, though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFKz-OsUUoY

Cos I know what I like.

surely the best ever sketches were the "fish-slapping" or the "lemmings" (may Graham Chapman rest in peace) or who can forget the "dead parrot" ... I don't have video links but please do post if you have them ...

broadening the discussion a bit, anyone got their favourite links to other comedians best stuff ... maybe Morecambe and Wise's "breakfast stripper", The Two Ronnie's "four candles" or Benny Hill's "Wishing Well" ...

or maybe a bit of Delboy and Rodney or Fawlty Towers?

Do you have also a link to one of my favourites?

It is from Live at the Hollywood Bowl and is a lecture about humour...
I do not know the exact name.
Haven't seen it for years but always liked it a lot.
Toghether with the Michelangelo and Pope joke and dozens more.
I am confused... Oh wait... Maybe I'm not...

I'd say "Enjoy" if it weren't in such bad taste.
