Lighten up mate. There are many people who support a player or a coach, so obviously they are going to support the team they are in. And that doesn't make them less football fans.

For instance, I became a Chelsea supporter when Mourinho was there, and started to hate them when he moved out. I hated it even more when that backstabbing Brazilian joined them, and while he was there I wanted any club to win the Premier League but Chelsea. Now that Scolari was sacked my level of hate has diminished.

Anyway, the only club I will always support is Benfica.

If you can't see that other people can view the sport differently then you're the muppet here.

I can understand 'lifelong' loyalty if your team is a local recruiter so you're supporting the local lads, but teams like Man U, Chelsea etc sign from all over the world so it's not a surprise they get support from all over the world. Their regional ties are through current individual players rather than historic ties to a particular place. It's just a different style of support.

being a general football fan and a team supporter are 2 total different things dont come out with stupid comments like (i became a chelsea supporter when mourinho was there . you just dont become a chelsea supporter i would like to here a real chelsea supporters view on your remark .did half of the chelsea supporters just suddenly stop supporting them because mourinho left. you have no idea what it means to support a team you just dont support them because they have a certain player/manager there's alot more to it than that .

i understand what your saying but it does'nt matter if your team is local or a european giant you just dont support a team because of a certain player i call these part time supporters if you talked to a real fan on this matter they would say the same thing there all muppets.

i'm not "TRUE FAN who understand the true meaning to following your team." but i understand when somebody play good and attractive soccer like Dimitar Berbatov and Cristiano Ronaldo and that's enough for me to follow team in who they are in this moment !

Sorry I dont understand a lot of the comments like i like such a player or such a manager so i support that team!!! Players and especially managers move around so many times during their careers but the idea is no one is bigger than the club. I liked Mark hughes and aint that keen on the way big sam plays so defensively but it dosen't mean that i support city....I hate em even more than i did before, I didnt support chelsea when my mate damien duff went there and i wont support any club that comes in for Santa Cruz, to me that is just not right. Im a Rovers fan, used to be a season ticket holder and only dont have one now due to work commitments but i try and get to as many games as i can to SUPPORT my team. I wonder if all the United, Chelsea and Liverpool so called fans can say the same?
I must admit tho if united played chelsea or latics played arsenal i would go with the north west clubs over the southern ones

This is only MY point of view and i dont wish to cause any offence.

I don’t know if you noticed, but my first reply to this thread was to mention the club I support and have always supported.

I understand where Anastacia is coming from because like her, I have unfortunately seen the best Portuguese players and coaches move out the country, because if you want to be at the top you belong in leagues like the Serie A, Spanish Liga or the Premier League. Like her I like good football, and nothing better than the best players and coaches to produce that. Those players and coaches are in those leagues I mentioned.

It has nothing to do with Chelsea. I also supported Barcelona and Real Madrid when Figo played for those teams and today I couldn’t care less to what happens to those clubs.

What you and others fail to understand is that just because you support one club it shouldn’t prevent you from appreciating other teams or other players or coaches.
In fact, I think people who call themselves nothing but club or team fans are less fans than the others because they can’t see beyond that scope. That kind of mentality fits more in the hooligan profile or firm member than a football fan. If anything, I would call those people fanatics, not fans.

I like to see Glasgow Rangers win but I prefer watching the English Premiership when I do watch football these days. Much prefer snooker but apart from the BBC the coverage from Eurosport is appalling.
