  • New car.

I want to get rid of my shogun this year its too big for what i need now, i only bought it to tow my caravan but sold the caravan before ever using the shogun to tow it

I fancy sticking with a diesel but want something a bit quicker, my top choices are at the moment
    1 - Golf GT TDi 150
    2 - Mondeo tdci 130
    3 - Passat tdi 130/150

Im only looking to spend up to £4000 max as my wife has a nearly new zafira and thats the main family car.

I did toy with an Audi TT too but i would never get my cue in it and i would have to spend more money.

Anyone own one of these or something similar that i might have forgotten?

The mondeos IMO are a load of rubbish, i would plonk for the golf or the passat, preferably the passat, they are great cars, but i also hear good things about the golfs, you can't go wrong with volkswagen.

You wouldn't go wrong with the pd engines VAG range they are fantastic engines, have you considered the bora? Reason being they are a group 8 insurance wheras golf are group 13 or 14 if i remember correctly. Also more boot space and cheaper to buy so get more for your money.

Scrape the idea of diesel and those cars!

Go all out and spoil yourself and get a... NISSAN SKYLINE R34 GT-R V-Spec II Nur!!!

Pretend to be in a mid life crisis
I'd be your best friend if you did

I'd go for the Passat, cause its more reliable than the other 2 being German and a class up from the Golf, but since you're thinking of a Audi TT you will want something small and sporty, so you should get the Golf, but be warned though, they can be a head ache.
And the diesel version is not that quick. Golfs are overated over priced cars imo.
Or simply go for the 4th option, buy my car off me

The best option would be, picking the TT!!! The best family car I think... you can have 5mins longer breakfast and you can be 10mins earlier at your family If you know what I mean!!

Ha ha I could never ever own another nissan, i have had a few and every one has been more trouble than its worth. I have been offered a mitsu lancer evo 6 ralliart for 7k which is apparently 400bhp and roller certified but it just didnt sound very economical and is a few grand more than i want to pay even tho it was the closest i have ever been in a car to fireblade speed, I am too old for this type of car

I really do fancy a diesel the modern ones are quick enough for me, after all you can only legaly go 70mph and in the traffic i commute in im lucky to see 50. I also really like chrysler 300s too, i had one last year in florida for 2 weeks and really didnt want to give it back but i think something that size is wasted on my journey to and from work

I am going to have a look at a bora tho they look pretty tidy.

they hold their money very well in blighty.
value after 3years over 50%, closer to 55, up there with depreciation dodgers such as the mini!

I would really struggle to get me, my son and our cues in though. I would have to strap my son to the roof.

well the cue might warp if exposed to the elements

A skateboard and a rope!! Then you won't damage the roof!
