I am more excited by Andrin Newey's car developments... What he has done for RBR is fantastic; For them to have done as they have done (And without the now in-famous rear diffuser) is fantastic.

Of course, this takes nothing away from Vettel who is superb.

      Formula 1 Improvements:

10 pints per driver as standard prior to commencement of race.

50% of drivers start facing one way.

50% of drivers start facing the other way.

100% more interest to potential viewers, it might even then be considered a sport. LOL

Maybe I'll post later when I can make more sense... But what can I say? Speechless! Fantastic race... Trulli did well from the pits... Hamilton did well from the last grid spot... And Brawn GP doing fantastic!

My only "disappointment" is Vettel and Kubica... They were both in my Fantasy F1 and if they hadn't crashed out at that time I had the top four... And Alonso was pushing for 5th at that time too!

A week and a half ago I wanted to go place a tenner on Button (After following testing) but told myself not to be so silly and to stop wasting money... At that time odds were good because the bookies hadn't clocked testing... Even a few days ago 4-1 was available and I didn't bother... Now I'm a little gutted I hadn't! Ah well

He tried to defend his place when another driver was trying to pass him. That's the idea isn't? It's a race. Was he supposed to say "after you sir"? Now I see Vettel has a 10 grid spot penalty. What's the point in trying to increase overtaking if drivers are penalised every time there's a little bump? Kubica could have avoided the crash by going a bit wider. He still would have got by.

I must agree with you that I don't think Vettel deserved a fine but to put it another way: Vettel continually kept admitting fault and apologising... It's not often you see drivers do that and so when he did, well they were bound to throw the book at him (Knowing he no longer had any defence).

Shame really, because his genuine apologies make him come across much the better man - Not many that would be so open and admit fault.

not only did he get the fine, the team has to pay 50,000 Dollar because they didn´t take him off the track immediately. very harsh imo. and about Vettel as a sportsman: From what I´ve seen in interviews he´s always been genuine when committing mistaskes and todays apology truly came from his heart.

$50 000 is nothing to a team like RBR and I think something had to be done simply from the safety point of view... If the wheel had for any reason come away with a driver behind then there could have been more damage or simply taken somebody out of the race. Unfortunately his screw up cost him his points paying position and in the end, his race... Keeping the car out was never going to make that better.

Now of course, he was only following orders from RBR so I'm inclined to think that it is their fault and therefore only right they pick up the fine.

The grid place drop though, now that's unfair in my opinion...

As a real fan of the sport I knew full well such a change of rule was never going to stand though stood in hope they'd rectify it before the first race, which they have done... I'm ecstatic! I simply cannot wait for the start of the season; Only one week away!!

Lots of excellent reviews for last season are out (I own the DVD and I'd suggest anybody semi-interested does too!)... Lots of good season reviews are posted on the internet, but to ensure this stays legal I'll point you in the direction of this one...

Last season; So many highlights, spanning 18 fantastic rounds. From Hamilton's first win in Australia, Kovi's crash in Spain and the tragic incident that held Sutil from a quality performance in Monaco (A Ferrari had to spoil the show, didn't it?)...Hamilton's crash in Canada made everybody question whether he was really good enough to be crowned World Champion... But in Brazil, on the very last lap, he did it!

I'm not a Hamilton fan boy, and in fact at the time I felt a little deflated he got the championship... But for everybody out there... I urge you to watch next weekends GP... It has not been so exciting in years...

Just keep an eye out for Brawn GP

I too am a fan of F1 an I agree withyou judging from what I saw in the first race today well done to button by the way I don't see any need for further changes we needed to see more overtaking and challenges during the race and despite Melbourne being a narrow circuit I thought we saw that I certainly thought we saw plenty of wheel to wheel racing

                      It was obvious Vettel's fault.
He was second in this corner so he should pass Kubica first.
                      That is the rule.
I don't think it is harsh at all to punish him and team for that.
After race he said "i was doing like an idiot".

After all it was good behaviour to say sorry to Robert.
I really respect Vettel for that.
Hamilton will never do sth like that...
But i was devastated because Robert was doing so well, was on harder types at the moment and was very close to 2nd position or maybe more...

Vettel and Kubica are the most promising drivers in all pack!

I think they'll let that one go as it was a 50 50 situation those are generally ignored it's only when people are seen to be driving recklessly that their punished

Vettel has every right to defend his position.

It may be true Kubica had the faster car but that often happens and the driver in front intentionally tries to slow them down, keep them behind... To that extent I think Kubica was forced into a rash challenge and unfortunately Vettel was not willing to give in.

Vettel had the line and every right to defend his position... Kubica could have gone slightly wider and would no doubt have still got him... Even if it was on the next corner... Instead he left Vettel with the choice of hitting him or going off the track (On the inside), which I believe he could never have achieved anyway as by then he'd got massive under steer.

It's easy for Kubica to say that he was faster than Vettel and would have got him on the next corner anyway, so Vettel should have yielded but it works both ways... If he genuinely thought that why didn't he ease off (Everybody and commentary team out there knew it was an incident waiting to happen at that particular instant) and get him at the next? One the skills of being a Formula One driver is timing, he may have had raw speed but his timing for the overtake (If he could see if was a risky manoeuvre) wasn't too great. All that ended up was two of the top drivers taking each other out (On a happier note, at least it allowed Brawn GP to get their fairytale start to F1).

In my mind, they were both wrong. It was a racing incident; It's happened in the past and it'll happen again... And even more so if the FIA want to increase overtaking... Just something to live with.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not favouring a particular driver... Infact I am a fan of both Kubica and Vettel (And was gutted when they took each other out as I had them both in my Fantasy F1!).

                            Hamilton apologises for Melbourne 'mistake'
McLaren's Lewis Hamilton has publically apologised for the events that culminated in his disqualification from last weekend’s Australian Grand Prix. Speaking to the media in Malaysia on Friday, Hamilton said sorry to the Melbourne stewards and his fans for what he described as a ‘huge mistake’.

He finished the season-opener in fourth, but was handed third at a post-race hearing, after Toyota’s Jarno Trulli was penalized for passing his McLaren under the safety car. A second inquiry in Sepang, however, heard fresh evidence that showed that McLaren sporting director Dave Ryan and Hamilton had ‘deliberately misled’ the stewards by denying the British driver had been told to move aside to allow Trulli to pass.

"In Melbourne, I had a great race,” said the reigning world champion. “As soon as I got out of the car I had the television interviews at the back of the garage, and straight away I gave them a good account of what happened during the race. Straight after that we were requested by the stewards, and while waiting I was instructed and misled by my team manager to withhold information, and that is what I did.

"I sincerely apologise to the stewards for wasting their time. I’d like to say sorry to all my fans who have believed in me, and have supported me for years. I am not a liar or a dishonest person. I am a team player. Every time I have been informed to do something I have done it. This time I realise it was a huge mistake. I am learning from it. It has taken a huge toll on me.”

While Hamilton was excluded from the race results, Ryan has been suspended by McLaren and sent home to the United Kingdom. It is understood a decision on his future won’t be made until after this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix.
"There has only ever been Alex Higgins, myself and now Ronnie O'sullivan who play the game the way it should be played with such excitement - I know the fans love it this way" - Jimmy White
