  • Smaller WPBSA Board

This is on the WSA website:

    Membership Support Constitutional Amendment

At an Extraordinary General Meeting called by the board of the WPBSA, snooker players voted in support of a motion proposed by the board to reduce the maximum number of directors on the board from 7 to 5 for a period of two years.

The meeting, held in London today, gave voting members the chance to decide whether a Resolution should be passed to change the constitution of the WPBSA. The amendment will be effective until 2011 when the board will return to its full capacity.

All 18 votes cast were in favour of the Resolution, meeting the requirement of a 75% majority.

WPBSA Chairman Sir Rodney Walker said: “Every director of the company was fully in support of the proposal. As a result of the change, we will be announcing which two directors have volunteered to relinquish their position on the board after the Betfred.com World Snooker Championship.”

    I wonder why...

Lol, they have a voting in the middle of the World Championship, now that's got to be an all time low for WSA! 18 voters, it's a joke!

Perhaps they are trying to cut the costs with fewer board directors?

That's what Dave Hendon has said on it yeah, cost cutting.

I think Ebdon was on about £17k a year (perhaps more), so it will save a bit.

If the whole Board was fully behind the move to reduce its size, why didn't they just resign and their places not be filled? Why did the WPBSA have to go to the expense of calling an EGM?
