OK, this was a wind - up for the Rafa fans here (If there are any hehehe )...

But what do you think, who will win this year's French Open?
Which loss was unexpected? Who do you think will make a good result here?

Ernests lost Damn, I really wanted a good result from him!

    etc...

    DINARA SAFINA FOR THE TITLE!

My very controversial prediction is that Nadal will win.

But I couldn't care less, and I certainly won't be watching it.

as for the male competition it's really hard to say. I'm hoping to see Federer win, although I wont be dissapointed even if RaFa wins.
Female competition? Safina definitely! She practices in the city where I go to college!

I agree Maruta. Ernie definitely has the game for it and the only thing he needs is to be mentally stronger, but he doesn't have a problem with any shot and in fact, I think he is one of the best serving players in mens tennis.

Now... Roger has got to win here. And Dina
Luka have you met her? Or saw her?
I know she moved in Varazdin recently with her coach...

                  nope, I don't gamble

Ernests is a good player, and can make all the favourites work hard for their money... and beat them too I must believe in him because we latvians have to be best in every sport, basketball, tennis, bobsleigh, ice hockey, cycling, running, weight lifting, biathlon, etc,etc,etc... except football. we don't have enough men left to make a proper team, so that's why we played in Euro finals just once, in 2004

I only spotted her once when I was having a drink with a friend of mine but she wasn't close enough to stop her. But I'm sure there'll be enough time for that too, the city is going to build a tennis court next to the city swimming pool and the gym, so she's going to have perfect conditions for practice.

I used to practice tennis a lot with coaches, etc. That was some years ago, many in fact. I gave it up, because it is such a hard game...it just takes too much. Mentally as tough as snooker, physically on par with athletics. So many kids around the world play it seriously, competition is just brutal. You have to be a bit special to get even near ATP ranks, let alone a top 10 player.
Rafa is favourite to win Roland Garros, but Roger is also a great clay court player. Maybe he will get him this time, who knows.

Roger definitely has the skills to beat Rafa. The thing I'm worried about is his mental state. He cracks quite easy when playing against Nadal. Can't remember what year it was, also Roland Garros..Roger sweapt away the competition with ease, but when he confronted Nadal in the finals he missed a whole lot of easy killer shots, even made 3 double faults in a row. We'll see how well he'll cope (or wont) with the pressure agains Nadal
