I've just been out for a run and thought why not ask around what others do to keep fit. It is said general fitness is a good alround thing that also brings out the best in concentration sports. So just to get to know what you do in the off season, or in general to keep fit I'll start a poll .

Come on RGC what do you do????
This time 2 years ago I was fit as a fiddle. Stopped training and still have no motivation to start again and I find myself 3 stone heavier than that time.Always play snooker with a smile on your face...You never know when you'll pot your last ball.

The Patended RGC Weigh Your Food Diet Extraordinaire!!!!!
Right according to the laws of physics... matter cannot be created or destroyed right? So I figure if you eat 100g of food even if 100% of it turns into fat.... You can only get 100g heavier!!!!
Stick to light foods and you will lose weight!
So you can eat as many Marshmallows as you like!!!!!
But fudge is out -.-
Personally I think this is a great step forward in diet technology
And oh yeh my excercise... Ummm.... I walked round a snooker table earlier...
Yesterday I walked to the kitchen and back a few times to fetch more food
....
....
....
still thinking...
Can anyone clarify... What's this "excercise" thing again?sigpic A Truly Beakerific Long Pot Sir!

given there's only 15 reds on the table, to clear up in one visit you'd have to pot (15+15+6) ie 36 balls so you'd only have walked 0.25 miles at most ...
that's my excuse for being a terrible player ... I could, of course, clear up but I prefer missing and hence getting more exercise ...
similar reasoning applies to positioning the white ... why on earth do pro's do little stun shots to get perfect position on their next ball ... if they played like me, they'd get a far better workout ...

[QUOTE=DandyA;402042]well yes I can actually RG ... if you walk round a full-size snooker table 144 times, you will have walked a mile ...QUOTE]
Is this a fact?Always play snooker with a smile on your face...You never know when you'll pot your last ball.

Is this a fact?
and it might have been 104 rather than 144 times but it was definitely something like that ...
I definitely saw it ... maybe someone has posted it to YouTube or Google Vid?
or maybe someone knows Mark and can ask him - he definitely did it so he must know ...Last edited by DandyA; 21 June 2009, 01:07 AM.

1 mile = 5280 feet
So ignoring the extra distance around the table if you were to walk right round the edge of the table you would travel 12 foot up, 6 across, 12 down, and 6 across again. So 1 lap is 36 feet minimum.
so 5280/36=146 laps....
Pretty good memory there Dandy! I'll let you off the extra 2!
I'm bored... so if you assume you walk a foot away form the table doing your lap... start at the bottom corner... 13 feet up, 7 across, 13 down and 7 across again... thats 40 feet... so 132 laps walking 1 foot from the edge of the table...Last edited by RGCirencester; 21 June 2009, 01:18 AM.sigpic A Truly Beakerific Long Pot Sir!
