      well I loved them all but in my previous post I was referring to the second take-off shot ...

      but I loved them all ...

      it's magnificent to see the Vulcan ... the Sea Vixen is a delight ... Spits and Hurricanes always a delight - my daddy enrolled to be a fighter pilot when he was 17 ... he got submarined to Canada for training on Tiger Moths but he never saw active service ... the war ended ...

        Well its quite easy to ramp up the shutter speed and freeze the entire picture. But problem is because the background is fixed to you get no sense of whats actually happening.
        So if you drop the shutter speed down (I think 1/50th may have been a little too slow though, espcially for the jets which have a little motion blur )
        and track the plane with the camera trying to keep it in the exact same position in the frame, then the background blurs across the picture while the shutters open, and the plane (theoretically) stays sharp in the centre of the picture.
