I think even if you use that and remain logged on, but then close down all TSF windows you will disappear off the online members list after an hour ?

Yes, if you're inactive for an hour, it doesn't matter if TSF window is open or not And the chat throws you out as well... the old shoutbox didn't do that, so one could chat there without being seen in Online users list

This is sad but maybe not that unusual, probably the reason a ban was asked for rather than an account deletion, that would be my request if I felt I was losing control.

He did ask for an account deletion at first but I persuaded him to go for a ban because it's easy to undo and doesn't make a mess of his old posts.

The ban's set to expire at the end of november but he has my email address if he wants to come back any earlier. I hope he does personally.
