Did anyone watch 'the event' live on ChanneL 4?

For anyone who didn't, Derren attempted to predict the 5 numbers from this evening's lottery not including the bonus ball, though i dont know why he couldn't have tried.

Amazingly he predicted all 5 numbers correctly. On friday he will be explaining how he managed this astonishing feat.

    Anyone else see it?

It was 6 numbers if I remember correctly.... with all his stunts you just think hmmmmm after it.

The main problem for me, was that for 'legal reasons' the BBC have to announce the lottery results first so he couldn't actually show you the numbers he had predicted. Instead he just had them sitting there on 6 balls, the number part being invisible.. This is what makes it a tad suspicious.

Also the odds on predicting the 6 numbers correctly are.... 1 IN 13,983,816.

He said he had been working had all year predicting these numbers. To me it's BS.

          Well known by who exactly?

What do you know about the workings of television?

I've watched it over several times and noticed that it freezes a bit and the camera is not still. Some people are saying the balls bit was a still shot etc and that the far left ball changes position slightly.

Here is the link if anyone hasn't seen it:

Can't wait till Friday to see how it was done though. Have a feeling it will be an anti-climax. Either that or we will all soon become rich

here's a snooker one for you ... might have seen it on TV at the last WC, I can't quite remember ...

Magician with two packs of playing cards ... gets John Parrott to pick a card totally at randon from one of the packs ... two of spades as it happens but of course it could have been anything ...

Magician spreads the other pack face down over a snooker table and says he'll hit the cue-ball round at least five cushions and hopefully the cue ball will land on the same card JP chose ...

And the Magician does just that ... hits the cue-ball round the cushions and it eventually stops on a card ... he turns it over ... two of spades ...

What an amazing piece of magic! ... it's probably me really being terribly cynical if I suggest both packs of cards contained 52 two of spades ... yeah, I am being too cynical - there must be more to it than that ...

The "Dr Death" phone call still works to this day though ... despite all the fantastic changes in technology over the last 30 years, it's still going strong ... that's if you're not too busy playing "hemorrhoids" or "space invalids" or "testicles" or whatever on your mobile ...

Something else has just occured to me on this.... if he really was able to work out what the lottery numbers were, why didn't he film himself going into his local corner shop, handing over a £1 and then saying he would donate his winnings (if any) to charity. Then when the draw is done he could have shown the ticket to the camera... an hour or two later any winnings could be confirmed by camelot.

I'm assuming this hasn't been done.... this would have been a foolproof way of going about things that could be verified.... Is it just to drum up viewing figures for C4?

He's an illusionist - it's not obvious to you that he hasn't actually predicted the lottery results, but done something else? I don't know what the something else is - obviously we find out on Friday, but he's effectively already said it's a trick.

Sorry... IT IS obvious that he hasn't actually predicted the results.

Maybe some slight of hand to switch the balls that were on the stand with some hidden in his clothing? That piece of cardborad was fairly large... are we sure it was really live as well?

Yes we are sure, he showed the draw live from BBC and when you switched over it was the same.

Anyway Dan read my previous post for my opinion on the fact its all trickery

How about this then.... video projector from behind the camera... to project the numbers onto the 6 balls...

It's hardly the greatest illusion going. He was saying that he'd spent a year planning it... ?!!!?

                              Ohh Dan,
If its not that great an illusion why has no one else ever tried it live on TV and saying he spent a year is all part of the act, its as much about showanship as skill with him

Anyway we will find out tommorrow but Derren Brown is simply amazingly clever at what he does.
