First of all great fight, how brave/stupid of the Ruiz to keep getting back up, secondly the name of the good Russian world champ is Vitali. He has a jab like a hammer and I don't think David H can beat him. The other brother is tough too but I think too slow for Haye who would beat him by KO.

Hope DH can unify the title though, he is like a slimmed down British Mike Tyson with a bit more of a boxing brain and its good we have some great British fighters out there.

You want to win some money, then back a guy called Nathan Cleverly to win a world title. Then there is Amir Khan, Carl Froch of course and how good was that first guy on the bill tonight ginger George?

Was a poor fight, same old put a big name in there, sell it out, they won't realize the former champ is finished. it was obvious Ruiz is washed up from the start, yes he can still take a battering, and that was what he was there for, put up a fight give the crowd some value for money and basically be a punchbag for the new boy. You might aswell put Tyson back in the ring to make Haye look even better, it's bollocks, glad I didn't pay for it. Haye is good but not fantastic

Having been a huge boxing fan since I first saw Floyd Patterson KO Ingemar Johansson on a tiny B&W TV in 1960,
I'm glad to hear that there are some "great British fighters".
But, I'm sad to see and say, it appears that boxing itself may be down and out for the count.

In sports the naturally gifted usually have a choice. They will gravitate to activities they do well at
of course but also to those sports that are cool within their peer group and on the telly.
Parents who support their kids' aspirations usually steer them and subsidize them towards the money.
Football, golf, but not snooker. In Canada the infrastructure to promote hockey from age 5 is obviously successful.
In America it's largely basketball and American football... so they suck at soccer.
The demise of boxing, thanks to greed, corruption and Don King has lost fans like someone yelling "opera" in a crowded firehall.
Tyson was the swan song for boxing. And what started with a bang went out with a whimper. And worse in the long-term,
boxing lost most of it's young potentially great fighters to mixed martial arts on a worldwide scale.
This migration of talent has been going on since George St. Pierre was a child.
Now, boxing as a technique is seen as an adjunct to MMA. It improves the striking part of your arsenal. That's it.
Take a fighter like David Hayes, have Fedor Emelianenko throw him to the ground and he'd be f*cked. Fast.
Kids in the schoolyard KNOW this.
Hopefully, boxing can be "purified" once again and regain past credibity and glory. I have my doubts.

What do you guys think to this fight? Doesn't seem to honourable a way to end it on both fighters, It does seem rather unnatural the way Dirrell responds to the illegal punch when he was downed as well.

Think Dirrell shown himself to be a cheat. He was hardly caught with that punch after he slipped down, but seized the opportunity to make a meal of it, like footballers diving in the box, what a baby, the other guy was dominating at that point

funny as hell, he knew he was just about to get knocked out, sought the easy way out.

It matters not Carl Froch will beat them both on the same night anyway

Got to be tough on Abrahams to have that as a loss on his record, there was also a knockdown in the 10th that looked fine, thibk the American ref was siding with Dirrell.

What would any UFC fighters think of the way that ended?

                          A few comments...

                          1. 4/10 for difficulty 7/10 for originality 2/10 artistic merit 9/10 for dive
                          2. good dramatic content [ see at 3:08 Abrahams lift is arms in a WTF gesture reminiscent of
Brad Pitt in "Snatch"after he KO's his opponent before agreed round
                          ]
                          3. Punch stats, ring generalship favour Abrahams in footage I saw plus Dirrell had run out of places
to hide and got "painted" into a corner so he rolled over, as 1laywer suggests, before "sleep".
                          4. Usually illegal blow results in loss of round, not entire fight. Dirrell clearly had it on the cards so
would have won had he survived. Therein lies the motive.
                          5. Lucky the fight didn't end in gunfire. It is Detroit afterall. Abrahams isn't black.
                          6. Where's Don King where you most expect him?

In MMA that blow would have received bonus points.

                          =o)

If Froch beats Kessler and wins this super 6 thing Joe might come out of retirement and I would love to see that fight.
So I hope he keeps wining fer now.

So many fights never happen for one reason or another.
