i was in a shop the other day and saw xmas tree balls with "merry ******* christmas" written on them. with the f word instead of ******* of course.

Have to disagree with that... If someone is banned then they will be missed. If the facts are not stated outright then you will simply end up with people asking what happened to that person.
And if the reply to this is "It is a private matter I have banned him for a reason just accept it" then that opens the door for people to think that it was somehow unjust / unwarranted which can only lead to bad things.
Personally I think Ferret did the right thing in informing us of this.

spot on RGC ... this fine forum should be an open and truthful place and Ferret has done well and should be congratulated by stating his reasons for the temporary ban ...

I'm sorry Welsh-Snooker but I enjoy Ja's postings and I also think she was entirely on-topic in her posting on this thread ... this thread is about the use of swear words and her posting was about the use of swear words so, at the risk of annoying a mod or the swear words filter, and in a light hearted and humorous vein ...

I believe Ja's original post was pointing out the evolution of various cuss words in society, that such words appear on everyday objects, such as baubles.

Though I personally agree they have no place on a forum such as this.

i am not that active on the forum but i do pop in every now and then but every time i do all i see is this sill little girls posts that seem to annoy and agitate people and are on the verge of working against the hard work that the people behind this great forum have done

if i was in charge i would of got rid of her along time ago and not taken her off of the moderation

I would love to see a Christmas themed TSF (hint hint ferret).
Cuss words should be kept to a minimum and I agree, including as Ferret mentioned simply replacing letters with *'s.
Ja should remain maybe sometimes she goes offtopic but here she wasn't, and I can name many other members (I think myself included >.<) who have been guilty of going off topic from time to time.

You know the beauty of written text is that you don't have to read Ja's posts if they annoy you so much. She has contributed to this forum numerous times, and the subject of this thread was a member banned for inserting swear words in posts.... So the topic IS swear words... Making Jas post NOT off topic in this instance!

I haven't read the exact rules of this forum W-S but I wouldn't be surprised if those rules say you should not personally insult other members - you can disagree with what they say but you should not call them "sill little girls" or "it is like talking to a 12 year old girl" ...

perhaps, in future, you could disagree with what she says without personally insulting her ...

although, for the record, I normally get the jist of where Ja is coming from and I enjoy her postings ... it's Noel that does my head in with his surreal Dali-esque postings - although that's not to say I think Noel should be banned, indeed quite the opposite ... one day I hope to have a flash of insight and understand one of them

how is it not on topic? a member was banned for using a certain word. that raises many questions of general offensiveness of this word in different countries and diffeerent situations. i just made an example how a thing that people i banned for in one place is available on shop shelves in another place.

in my opinion mr welsh snooker, you create more off topic here. I am flatterer with all the attention to my humble self but i suggest we finish this unpleasant conversation.

im not sure why you turned on me all of a sudden. i guess we all happen to have bad days and come online to get our anger out on unknown people. i don't take any of that personally so no worries.
