John Terry has been sacked as England captain, Sky News have reported.

The award-winning broadcaster have cited 'close sources' in their announcement that Terry has been 'dropped' following the lurid allegations made against him.

The Chelsea defender was spotted arriving at Wembley for talks with Fabio Capello on Friday afternoon at about 1pm and it appears he has been unsuccessful in persuading the Italian not to strip him of the armband.

According to Sky News, the meeting lasted just twelve minutes.

It has already been speculated on the station that Steven Gerrard will be appointed as Terry's successor, though it's also thought that Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard and even Rio Ferdinand are in the frame to take on the role. Wayne Bridge is not thought to be a contender.

The FA are refusing to comment on the reports.

Silly decision, what he does in private is his own business. Anyway who is going to replace him?

            RF - the drug cheat

Stevie G - the serial diver who is heavily involved in Liverpools underground.

Wayne Ronney - The hot head, hardly English captain material

I have heard the U.S. and Slovenia will not be so strict with their no WAGs enforcements in the upcoming World Cup.

An official statement has been made in regards to a certain circulating rumour.
The reason behind this decision is to further improve mutual relations between the aforementioned nations.

Direct question whether the true intention isn't a further elimination of England's players has been answered with a firm:
              'No.'

Pardon me. I almost don't watch football at all and one Tiger Woods circus was enough.

Robbo's potting is so good he doesn't need to bother with positional play like the rest of the players. He laughs in the face of those who spend hours on the practice table perfecting their cue ball control! ~ Forman

no doubt about it Stevie G will get it but its a crasy decision sacking someone for a private matter.

a supermarket manager getting the sack for playing away with a checkout girl on their own time.....is that sackable..

JT Was hardly playing footsie on the center spot was he.

JT has not been sacked, he has just lost the captaincy so its not the same as sacking a shop worker for getting his leg over.

The problem with what Terry done is that he will have lost the respect of most of the other players for the fact he did what he did to a team mate.

To be an good leader you need to have the respect of the whole team which he wont.

                      Capello had no choice really.
Just because its old, doesn't mean its worth a fortune!!

Well done Capello but Terry should have resigned before today.

Can't believe anyone thinks he should stay on! Can you imagine giving the girlfriend of one of your snooker/pool team mates one, then expecting there to be any kind of team spirit? Every player in the England squad has been forced to take sides now, which is just what you don't need in a world cup year.
