  • I'm a new mama, hear me...

    ...meow!
I found two kittens by the dumpster two days ago. After a zillion phone calls and as many rejections, we took them in.
Not more than a week old, both boys.
Pics are not theirs, just similar found online. Also, Petre II has a white spot on his chest, just like Petre I.
    This is Petre.

Named after our imperial cat who died two months ago, at 15 1/2.

    And this is Tony.

Named after two professional players. Yeah. Guess who's the...other one.

We are experienced cat slaves, but we appreciate any advice about kitties so young. Starting them on cat formula today, keeping them warm, we've taken them to the vet for a check-up,...anything you guys can tell me.

And also, wish us luck, they're starting solids in about three weeks. May we all live to see it!

ahhhhhhhhhh, best post of the week for me.

lawyer-------is a cat lover too. You don't need advice you got it all covered.
Kittens so young can fret being away from their mother so you in effect have taken her place and these too will be very dependent on you now. So the only advice I can give is do what you are dong now. Show them love.

My advice for Cat litter training is leave the cat litter tray in the same place near your back door get them used to going to one place then when the time comes for them to go outside they have not got far to go. All you do is empty a cat litter tray (Just once) in the garden and let them get used to the smell. They will soon learn as cats are the cleanest of animals.
Once you start training them to go outside get used to feeding them as soon as they come in from being outside.

    See you mummy

            Aww, 1lawyer, great pic!

            Updates on the kitten front
We put them in a much bigger cardboard box, where they have room to move around, bought dispensable baby underpads to cover the bottom of the box, placed bottles of hot water in there (they sleep on them, the little drunkards ), bought two bottles, for synchronised feeding, and we're starting to fall in love.
Pics soon, for I have the feeling they might just make it.
Also, I jumped out of bed at 6 AM today because I heard them meow.*slaps forehead*

So yeah. They seem to be doing great, moving around, climbing on us, going to the loo (on my lap, of course)...
            Meow!

As promised, pics of my kittens.

This is Tony, the fiercest milk drinker in the Northern hemisphere.

Here's Petre II doing his close-up. It's very hard to catch him, for he's in motion all the time. And yes, I know he looks like a baby bat in this pic, but it's not so.

                And...a rare quiet time.

They're doing great, gaining weight, eating like two little...ahem.

                  New pics, three weeks later!

I was away for five days at the end of May and I had a shock when I returned home.
And this is why. Here they are, almost six weeks old.

The boys eat solid food and also us, out of house and home.
One obstacle to overcome yet, and it has sand in it.
They're due their first vaccination in about two weeks.

I humbly bow my head to you, Master(s).
                        Indeed.
Dogs have masters, cats have staff.

Thank you, merlin, made me smile.
Thank you, jrc750, and may I say your George is one gorgeous piece of laziness.

May he live long and prosper and healthy! Shows you take good care of him.

We shared our home with an imperial black one for 15 1/2 years, so I know...
