What if we are not born German/French/English etc by mere accident? What if we are born where we are born because we are supposed to learn something about ourselves or others or other things?.... Just wondering, you know...

I think this year's winners will be either Spain or Germany. Just can't seem to make up my mind.... lol

        .
Spot on, Mignon. Exactly my thoughts. Why shame meself because some my ancestors thought they may be able to conquer the world? Many Germans (Kokol included) have a difficult relationship to their nation. I'm just happy to see German flags in the cars, see Germans celebrating their team, witness German patriotism on the public viewing spots and so on. This is new & fantastic development after decades where you learnt being German is something you should be ashamed of. That's something we've not being able to do whitout being liable to right-wing party till 2006. I hope the tide is turning

Brazil certainly in the 1st half too slow and kaka not playing well at all.
But their 2nd goal was very well constructed.
By this evening every team will have played their first match. I assume the quality of the matches from now on will be a lot better.
I saw that going differently in my mind

Yes, Miscuehamburg, let’s just leave aside both guilt complexes and victimisation tendencies – generally speaking, it’s politicians who are responsible for/interested in perpetuating them. Maybe we should all lighten up a bit and remember to have a good healthy laugh as often as possible. And enjoy life with two of its greatest gifts: snooker and soccer.

Vucko, you, sir, are an angel! Yes, that’s what I was looking for. Thank you very, very much!

Certainly not France...a non exixting Ribery, a bizar Domenech as coach ...it's finally good to see them showing some modesty....

The Premier League is good because the foreigners are good. Extrapolation to the national football team is misleading and results in big disappointments.

Anyway any team playing with Carragher cannot be taken too seriously.

Holland winning and almost for certain qualifying for the next round. Vandervaart and Van Persie not in their best form, so it' s still waiting for Robben to bring more action in the team.

Denmark vs Cameroon, the best match so far in this World Cup!
Denmark vs Japan will be a cracker! can't wait for that one. Japan will pass the group even with draw because of the goal difference (1-1 vs 2-3).
