  • Some people decided that the building that I live in needs an additional storey, so a construction company started working on it on Monday. The construction work will approximately last until May next year.

At this very moment, I got about 5 construction workers in front of my windows running along a scaffold. They can see every corner of my living and bedroom. They are constantly swearing in a thick Viennese chauvinist working class accent. I feel totally invaded in my privacy. And the constant drilling sound doesn't really help, either. It's a big farce!!!

Congratulations to all the happy new arrivals to this world, tho!

    • You POOR POOR soul! Since I had scaffolding round my apartment for almost 6 months last year I can appreciate the sheer horror of it. I had provisional curtains on all my windows, constantly drawn. I hated it...

      • Thanks, I really appreciate the sympathy! At first, I thought it was just me and I'm overreacting. But I'm very particular about my space. It is sacred, you know. I need to have a quiet place for me. I have no idea how I can stand that for a year. I can only hope that they'll move on very quickly and leave my windows alone... this is already driving me nuts on the second day... *faint*

        • a word of warning: make sure that the curtain in the kitchen is indeed drawn before walking into it in your undies for another cup of coffee in the morning I laugh at that now, but I felt mortified when it happened. The guy wasn't even cute like he would be in Diet Coke commercial...

The thing is, I hardly EVER had any construction workers outside my windows, but they would PASS BY then and now, and you never do know when that'll be. So be a Boy Scout and always be prepared!

Valderie, have a cue and mini Snooker table at the birth. It could be good karma!

All I say: bedroom & only undies in summer... I guess I will have to change this habit as of NOW! And we still have 30+ degrees outside... oh man!!!

Mine aren't Diet Coke guys either! I'll complain to the construction company. Anyways, I think they are gone for today, so I'll stop moaning.

Good thinking - would be nice to have at least one member of the family as interested as I am in snooker!

                    • Have a great time Miss Walker. I live about an hour from London but have'nt been there for almost 10 years. I've never been to Madam Tussauds and would love to go. Some of the waxworks look so lifelike.

@a_g: I live on the ground floor and need to have venetian blinds on my windows, or people would be able to see anything going on in my bedroom
It's a good thing I have those blinds, as I tend to come into the bedroom after taking a shower and the door faces the windows...

                            • Finish at 1 and then going on a serious bender because I get paid lots of overtime today! Can't decide on Indian or Chinese tonight though. Staying away from the Snooker club because my money seems to disappear when I'm there.

No-one to spend my pennies on anymore

Hang on, thats a good thing!
