I like all kinds of ice cream, mostly the "fruit" flavours and the ones with alcohol. A couple I don't like are chocolate, hazelnut and coconut. But my favourite has always been pistachio. I just love the taste, and also the smell of it.

Unfortunately, we seem to have fallen into a state of decadence as far as ice cream is concerned here in Slovenia. The old-style plain and simple ice cream (as seen in this picture, bottom left in particular) seems to have been replaced by these disgusting new types of ice cream, with all kinds of "dressings" and decorations. It has been a remarkable transformation in the last couple of years, and nobody really seems to have noticed it (except for people like myself who have nothing better to think about ). There was a time when you could get ice cream in cornets on every corner. It was the same couple of flavours everywhere, and maybe the occasional "exotic" one, if you caught them on a good day. If you wanted something special, you had to look around a bit.

These days, the ice cream stands are still there, and no two are alike. You might think this is something I would appreciate, as there is more diversity than before... Well no, most of it doesn't look at all inviting. You can't buy a single, plain flavour anymore. If you want strawberry, you have to put up with some sort of chocolaty cream on top of it as well. It really is a ridiculous step backwards as far as ice cream is concerned. There is literally almost no place where you can buy the old ice cream anymore, in the entire capital city. The last time I saw an "old-school" ice cream stand was probably in 2008. I wonder if it still stands...

Banana, Toffee, Vanilla. Most are nice. Chocolate is boring though. Similar to drinking chocolate, the ice cream tastes nothing like proper chocolate.

Chocolate with peanut butter through it. I can't remember the official name of it but i get it from Baskin and Robbins.
