Gotta be the full english but you can keep the black pudding. Congealed pigs blood doesnt do a lot for me! Swap the fried bread for toast and we have a winner. Sunday roast beef is a serious challenger though.
Although I dont know much about British food, but I did read that the Uk has the most number of Michelin 3 star fine dinning restaurants in the world, so I guess the food must be quite good.
But I know people from different culture are used to eating different food growing up so they might not like something that they have never tried before. Like I have met Americans who have never been out of their country and believe American food is the best in the world.
To be honest I am a bit taken back by the mention of kidney and pig blood but I would not mind to give it a try. As a matter of fact I believe it is probably pretty good or else it would not be so popular.
We have some British influence here in Canada. I had some English afternoon tea with some friends a month ago with tea served in a silver pot and some fancy cups, trays of scone, cakes, sandwiches...(rather than donuts and coffee) and that was quite interesting (and very expensive). I have tried some meat pies, too that were very yummy but it is not that popular to have "real' UK food. May be the Uk food we have in Canada has been changed.
I love this thread, I love to read about food and culture that I am not familiar with.

When I lived in Scotland and England (and visited Wales from time to time) a person was very hard put by to find ANY decent restaurant in the whole of the UK unless you either paid a mint for the food or else knew someone who knew of one of the few good ones.
I remember traveling the motorways and stopping at a 'Little Chef' I think they were called and the food was just awful.
However, nothing beat fish and chips out of one of the chippies, especially in Scotland. I couldn't go for the deep friend Mars Bars which were around Glasgow when I lived there.
But now I'm glad to see there are a lot of decent restaurants in the UK and you have a wide choice. You even have McDonalds and Burger King but I couldn't find a Wendy's so you're missing out on the best fast food burgers (for a chain).
I do remember the food in the cafe at Prestatyn was worse than hospital food and they used to poach the eggs in grease...loverly!

OH TERRY! I feel for you! Last time i went there was as a child and they gave you a orange fizzy lolly at the end of the meal. Was the best bit! Guess it was a reward for surviving the meal! YUK!

i think tokyo has the most now? either way i have eaten all over the world and anybody who thinks the food in the uk is awful is living with a myth fron the 1950's there are restaurants near me that would hold their own with anything in lyon or paris.

How much is a decent 3 course dinner with a bottle of regular wine in big cities in the UK (I mean something avergae at a decent place with good food, good service and good envirnoment but not crazy expensive)?
I heard that the food is very expensive in cities like London.
I think this might be why people think the food is bad because the tourists go eat at the very cheap places and the food are awful there...
May be...just a guess?

Sadly everything in London is expensive. I was down there recently and paid £5.20 for a pint of lager! Its £2.30 where i live....just 60 miles away from the "smoke".
