when i go to away matches you can pay £8/9 for a gin and tonic in london £5 for a pint. in wigan its around 3.50 for a double g&t and £2 for a pint in manchester your talking £4 a pint easy.
if you asked for a fiver a pint where i live you would need a police escort to get you out.
thats aload of boll**ks british food is up there with the best in the world scotland has some of best seafood in the world, aberdeen angus beef, welsh lamb ect. the problem is there's so many foreigners in the country opening pizza places, donner kebabs, indians, chinese and so on dont get me wrong i love going to a good chinese/indian restaurant its just all these fast food places fu*king it all up macdonalds, burger king, pizza places.
I'm not talking about kebabs, pizzas etc. Of course, it's not British food. But what I have experienced in UK is - ground-meat tastes like paper, boiled potatoes are flavourless, so the other vegetables. It's just the wrong farming. The food is not natural anymore, but synthetic.
I wish you could try some real Latvian potatoe or meat, also black bread with curds. And of course, some of the best latvian beers. You'd see the difference.
I had friend from Romania and she said something similar about food in her country. But she also liked some of our English food. She still uses some of our (English) recipes.
Apparently the veg is better in Romania.
