  • Dragon's Den, Eggheads?

Does anyone watch either Dragon's Den or Eggheads?

Both are really good, may favourites

I watch Dragon's Den whenever I see it's on, I run a small (ok, tiny) business myself and that kind of stuff is always interesting to me.

Can't say I watch eggheads though, I've always found it a bit naff to be honest. WWTBAM is still the king of quiz shows imo.

Dragons Den is class. I love business orientated programmes and especially like The Apprentice USA

          Yes, they are good

I agree about eggheads being a bit tacky, but the actual quiz pros are very, very knowledgeable.

Eggheads is my favourite quiz show, Millionaire and weakest link are a bit old now. Kevin and Daphne have fantastic knowledge and if they went on WWTBAM I'm pretty sure they'd get close to, if not win the million.

Kevin already has done [I think], and I'm sure Daphne could win a million. She's very cliver

Rob, can I ask what your buisness is?

True Level applied for Dragon's Den, were accepted, but we pulled out.
We don't need "snake money" from that shower of sh1te.

We have been working away for nigh on 18 months, mainly on full size snooker tables.
Even when we have offered free optimising, the take up has been abysmal.

You devote hours and hours on your practice table, yet you are playing on a surface that is 95% in probability out of level and the slates are less than perfect.

I cannot believe that you guys who play at a decent "level", (Pardon the pun), have not been contacting us.

We have a special offer that I hope you will make the effort to get in touch. Unless we can bring the the passionate cue sport participants on board, how can we succeed with Joe Public?

Please get off the fence and push for a table near you to be optimised, then you can judge.......

Just ask John Higgins or Ian McCulloch for their opinion next time you meet them.

Every business owner has to make their own decision, but if I had the chance to promote a product I was very passionate about in front of an audience, I would do everything I could to get in front of that audience .

You sound pretty frustrated with your results to date. Unfortunately, you are trying to market a service that is so specific, your target market is very narrow. So getting 1 table out of 100 sales pitches or even 300 maybe considered very successful.

Perhaps you could sponsor a public tournament where you do the tables for free and you get player testimonials. Part way through the tournament, when you have a captive audience, you could explain your process and benefits to all the players attending. If players notice a dramatic improvement, that would help your future marketing.

But I am by no means an expert, just giving you my 30 second analysis

Think Dragon's Den is brilliant but Eggheads naff naff naff! Nobody likes a know it all and the way the Eggheads answer questions when the other team gets it wrong etc irritates the pants off me! The old bloke at the end who needs a decent haircut and wash also winds me up! So - no, don't like Eggheads!

I've seen Eggheads a couple of times. But one episode I wasn't really impressed when I knew the answer to so many questions, I beat both teams all by myself. But the Eggheads annoy me, so I stopped watching. Especially that bald guy really bugs me. No, they all bug me. Arrogant sods. And they keep losing. :-)

                        I like watching Eggheads
You play a long slow deadweight red to a corner pocket. As it approaches the pocket, a kamikaze woodlouse crawls out from under the cushion and makes its way across the table, conflicting with the path of the red precisely at the point the red gets there. The red, needless to say, veers off course, and the future of the woodlouse is uncertain. - The Statman

On most tables you will not see a dramatic improvement. It's alot more subtle than that. Only over time will players appreciate true running tables. It is when you play on a poor surface that you appreciate perfection...

We are looking to "involve" members of clubs where we have optimised some or all of the tables. If players can relate run-offs to our maps of the tables, where possible issues are indicated, we are trying to provide some kind of reward. Maybe we will support a tournament with Cuefactor, inviting top players as well. Still early days on this idea.

We are also offering to level the top 32 players tables before the end of the year which is proving to be positive.

                          Thanks for your input Curtis.

And, about your product, I'm sure nearly all the players on this board are better than me (I have a HB of 36 ), but my game isn't at a stage where millimetres, measured only by lasers make a difference..

How do you know? A perfect table might give you a high break of 37.

Respect for the dragons? You must have Welsh blood!
