    need some questions answered for kid's homework by authentic Scots!

    It is about the New Years celebrations:

    any special names for it (except New Year)
    special observances
    how many days
    favourite food associated with the holidays


    help greatly appreciated

            Auld years nicht (which happens to be my birthday also)

                  Being then means I'm always on holiday on my bday (school hols when I was younger also).

                  And double the celebrations !!

                      If everybody is drunk before, not much celebrations possible I'm afraid. I wouldn't want to have my birthday on that day, Christmas or 23/24 June!
