theres nothing more annoying than seeing a new post. clicking on the link and finding that the same thing is happening regularly to very good threads. total waste of time. dont see anything being said by the mods then. several people in chat have agreed this happens.
so, weve dont this thread to prove a point, and also, only people clicking here will get upset, if they can get upset considering the title, but it may be wiped out
The thread can stay as far as I'm concerned. In fact, I might even use it as a dumping ground for chat that pops up in other topics. Maybe rename it though to something a little less blatant?

Rob
im fairly sure the pont has been made.
far be it for us to go against rules, but it happens
this thread was more to highlight it happening...not so theres an outlet for it to continue
im fairly sure April wouldnt mind the thread being locked, and perhaps even a mod editing a users post in future who they feel posts regularly to up their count, with a link to this thread.
alternativively, my suggestion would be
0-100 Newbie
101-200 - Regular
201 + Elite user
and then the mods could special rank anyone else they felt deserved it
that way, thered be less spamming
or
make the amount to go through the colours a lot less, then theres not much to aim for by posting to up a count

I like the post count colour indicator - I don't think it needs to be removed due to the action of a few people.
If some of you do not want to see the posts from certain people, click their member name to view their profile and add them to your ignore list.

April and Semi - I can see you are upset with this issue and we will try to curb the off-topic posting as best as we can.
What I do not understand is both of you have offered great advice and a strong contributors, but many mebers have a fair number of posts that could be seen as 'post-inflating'. I know that is not the case, but new members may not have the same impression.
One example:
http://www.thesnookerforum.com/showthread-t_1763.html
No one came to me with issues of post count then...
Looking at this from a new member's point of view, would you not think that general banter and postings of this type are welcome here?

Maybe we can separate the off-topic threads from the list of latest posts too?
I'd like to see more intelligent posts and less banter. I am part of it myself, of course, and I don't mean that people shouldn't writr what they like but sometimes it gets a bit too much IMO.
