          • It's James Finlayson, known from many "Laurel and Hardy" films.

(Oh, and if that's right, could please somebody else take over and ask the next question? - I won't be in reach of a computer till thursday morning. ty)
"Talking about music is like dancing about architecture." (Elvis Costello)
"It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice." (John Cassis)

            • yeah well done it was james finlayson.. born in 1887 and his work with Laurel and Hardy is clearly among his best. In the movie WAY OUT WEST, he tried to swindle them out of a gold mine. Whether he was a bystander or a villain, Finlayson's performance was always pivotal to the film. No other actor could have come close to taking his place.

              next?
