        lol well we have had them ruin our history to such a level that some people think its true - braveheart etc!!

          Ekali is a gorgeous northern suburb of Athens. I on the other hand live in a southern suburb of Piraeus.


          With Qubit's permisson, I'll ask about that Greek film now...

          This film was nominated for more than one Oscars, won one. The director is French, a man who learnt and loved Greece when he fell in love with his wife, the leading lady in this film.

                    Are you sure the director was french? i thought he was born in Limassol, Cyprus

                    • You're right he isn't French Marc, I messed that one up, shameful of me! You are wrong about him being a Cypriot tho... He was born in the USA!

                      Btw, ADR, I just checked the biography for Yves Allégret and none of his three wives was Greek...

                      Back to this film, it won a Golden Globe award, and the leading actress won the best actress award in Cannes, but on two different years.

                      • I thought the film must of been ZOBRA THE GREEK The director was Michael Cacoyannia but he was born in cyprus , so it cant be that then!

                              check again - i thought simone signoret was born in germany to french parents but moved almost straight away to greece and considered herself to be greek? i of course am not looking it up so i am bound to be wrong!
